of the show and recounted the harrowing ordeal she endured after her season aired in 2011 in the new ID show, Hollywood Demons: Surviving 16 & Pregnant.
Cunningham's struggles began after she appeared on the series, with the star falling into addiction as she attempted to cope with cruel criticism she received after the show, according to People.
The troubles came to a head in 2012 when she was hospitalized after overdosing on heroin in the backseat of her friend's car.
Unbeknownst to Cunningham, she was pregnant with her second child, daughter Jayleigh Rae, at the time.
Now 32, Cunningham says she never 'touched' heroin ever again after the terrifying experience.

'In 2012, I got a bag of heroin. I was in the backseat of my best friend at the time's car. We go to McDonald's, it's like two in the morning,' she revealed on the show.
'I overdosed in the backseat of her car. Back then, Narcan wasn't a thing like it is today, where you can just Narcan, send you on your way,' she said, referencing the nasal spray used to block an opioid overdose.
The series followed Cunningham and her then-boyfriend Jamie Alderman becoming parents
She has son Jamie Paul Alderman Jr., 15, and daughter Jayleigh Rae, 12, with her ex Jamie Alderman and daughter Kennley Layla, eight, with boyfriend Tyler.
Cunningham laid bare the 'partying' she did to numb the criticism during her appearance on the ID episode.
'I just started partying. And then all of a sudden pills started going into the parties and we're doing Xanax, and then it was Percocet, and when I was 17, I had somebody shoot me up with heroin,' she recalled on the show, according to People.
Cunningham regarded herself as a 'functioning addict' who convinced herself she was 'fine' despite a deep knowing that wasn't the case.

'I always knew it wasn't okay, but in my head, I kept a house, a job, a car. I thought, 'I'm fine. I'm still being an okay mom.' It's not like he wasn't getting fed or clothed, but emotionally. I just wasn't there like I should have been,' she said.
Cunningham has come a long way from her post-16 and Pregnant struggles.
In October, she posted a video montage chronicling the troubles she faced after appearing on MTV.
'I'm a changed [woman] so we can laugh now,' she wrote.
