Briana DeJesus learned a shocking truth about her mother Roxanne on the latest episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter.
Roxanne had been exhibiting erratic behavior ever since Briana, who previously lived with her, bought a house of her own and moved away.
Taking her young children with her, Briana relocated to a different part of town, over Roxanne’s objections that her grandchildren are ‘half mine.’
Now living alone, Roxanne began to spiral, even throwing water at her other daughter Brittany during an argument at a restaurant.
In a dramatic showdown with her daughters, Roxanne bared the traumas of her turbulent childhood when she had to inject heroin into her father’s arm – and revealed a secret that left Brittany and Briana stunned.

Roxanne had been exhibiting erratic behavior ever since Briana, who previously lived with her, bought a house of her own and moved away
The two sisters discovered methadone in her mother’s belongings, showing Roxanne had suffered from addiction herself and was using the medication to recover.
Neither of Roxanne’s daughters had any idea of her substance abuse issues, which finally provided an explanation for her past outbursts.
Right from the beginning of the episode, Briana and Brittany had a fraught equation with Roxanne over the latter’s various deceptions.
Roxanne, it turned out, had concealed the identity of her daughters’ biological father, letting them think their stepfather had actually helped conceive them.
‘‘Throughout my whole entire life, it was just me, my mom, and my sister,’ Briana said in a confessional. ‘We were always together. And my mom, she’s been our rock.’
She added pointedly: ‘But over the years, we started learning that our mom has lied to us about some pretty big things.’
Briana has a daughter called Nova, 12, by her ex Devoin Austin, and another daughter called Stella, six, by another ex called Luis Hernandez.
Having moved away from the support system provided by Roxanne and Brittany, Briana was relying on her friends to help her with childcare.

She also revealed a secret that left Brittany and Briana stunned
Briana told one of her friends about her mother’s strange ‘behavior’, saying: ‘‘She’s been just, like, acting out. Like, she’ll call us, cursing us out, crying.’
In order to finally get to the bottom of the situation, Briana called Brittany and the two of them arranged a confab with their mother.
On the appointed date, as Briana and Brittany waited for Roxanne to arrive, they expressed their joint anxieties about how the meetup would go.
‘Part of me wants to believe it’s gonna be the best conversation we’ve ever had throughout our whole life, but then another part of me is like: “Hmm, we’re not gonna get anywhere,”‘ Briana admitted. ‘We’ll figure it out.’
Roxanne blew in, declaring she felt ‘‘like I got hit by a truck. F***ing everything. Menopause, my anxiety is through the roof. Just everything hit me at once.’
Her daughters raised the possibility that being an empty nester – with Briana moving away and Brittany engaged – might be contributing to her state of distress.
Roxanne noted that she was also attempting to cope with her past, including ‘some traumas that you just don’t come back from.’
Her angst was linked to the history of addiction in her family – a problem that was so severe that ‘shooting heroin into my father’s arm was the least of my worries.’

‘So how do you feel if you can’t come back from some traumas, this stuff that you’ve done to us?’ Brittany retorted. ‘You treat me like s***. You talk to me like s***. You always cross the f***ing boundary. And what if we can’t come back from that and we just can’t be around you?’
‘And that’s the f***ng truck that’s hitting me right now,’ Roxanne candidly acknowledged. ‘The fear, the anxiety for what I’ve done to you guys, what I’ve put you guys through, in particular you, those are the things that I have to deal with.’
Brittany mercilessly told her she must get help, because if she continued with her present course of behavior, she would not be asked to Brittany’s wedding.
Roxanne flew into a fury, incredulous that Brittany would resort to ‘such a low blow,’ but Brittany countered that she was only telling ‘the truth.’
As their confrontation reached a fever pitch, Roxanne finally decided to reveal that she was carrying methadone with her.
Meanwhile Leah Messer could be seen bonding with her father Gary Lee Miller over their shared history of addiction – and their shared attempts to overcome it.
At the time of this episode, Gary had finally agreed to enter rehab, and Leah decided to give him a chance to repair their fractured relationship.
Leah spoke to her sister Victoria about the difficulties of finding a rehab, as the available facilities were either too expensive or declined Gary’s insurance.

‘I think, more than anything, I didn’t want to have to leave my kids. But I know that leaving my kids was – for 30 days was the best thing that I could do for them at that time,’ Leah emotionally explained to Gary.
‘They were my life. I was never a bad mom. I just got hooked on medications that were prescribed to me, and then I felt like it was sink or swim, but I kept sinking.’
‘Yeah, well,’ said Gary: ‘I felt so bad doing them with you myself. It still bugs me. I’ve given you a stick of dynamite.’
‘If anything, I held a bigger grudge because you just vanished when I was young,’ said Leah. ‘And I think there was a lot of responsibility put on me as the oldest. And, yes, I looked like you, and I acted a little bit like you, and I – Mom was angry.’
Gary expressed his consternation of the years of life he had lost to addiction, sharing that he hoped to develop a bond with his grandchildren now that he was sober.
‘If you stick to this and you follow through – ’ said Leah, to which her father defensively interjected: ‘If, what you mean, if?’

‘When you follow through with this,’ Leah said kindly, ‘and you keep up with your recovery, that’s really where your starting over will come into play. And I think a lot of times that you might have missed out on with us, you’ll be able to regain that and find healing in building a relationship with your grandchildren. It’s your legacy.’
Maci McKinnney on the other hand was seen busily helping her son Bentley, who was then 15, prepare for a driving test to get his learner’s permit.
Although Maci is currently happily married to one Taylor McKinney, she had Bentley when she was a teenager by her ex Ryan Edwards.
When Bentley took the test for the learner’s permit for the first time, he failed, but Taylor still had faith that he would eventually be ‘fine driving.’
Maci also noted that Bentley was watching his father undergo a turbulent period in life, including various legal problems that even landed him in jail.
‘About three months ago, Ryan was released from his halfway house and moved into [his parents] Jen and Larry’s,’ Maci explained in voiceover.
‘Shortly after he was released, he was pulled over for speeding. Because of his DUI earlier this year, Ryan will have a restricted license for a year. However, he’s sober and is doing well,’ she graciously pointed out.
Once he secured a learner’s permit, Bentley would only be able to drive with a licensed adult over 21 in the car with him, a category that technically includes Ryan.

Bentley was seen finally passing his test and receiving his learner’s permit, watched proudly by his parents and grandparents.
‘I guess you could say that poetic justice is being served right now with Ryan having a restricted license, while Bentley is getting a restricted license,’ said Maci drily. ‘I mean, at least Bentley’s got a perfect example of what not to do.’
Cheyenne Floyd could be seen hitting a bump in the road while co-parenting her seven-year-old son Ryder with her ex Cory Wharton.
Cory asked to have Ryder for her entire 10-day Christmas break so that he could take her on a trip to Michigan – one that he turned out to have booked months prior.
Cheyenne took exception to the fact that Cory decided to blindside her with his plans so close to Christmas, despite having made them so far in advance.
They began squabbling about their past Christmas arrangements, with Cory insisting Cheyenne usually ‘had’ Ryder ‘for Christmas,’ while Cheyenne maintained that they ‘share’ by divvying up Christmas Eve and Christmas morning.
Cory, however, found the present arrangements unfair because his family do not live in Los Angeles – where he, Cheyenne and Cheyenne’s family live – so Ryder was never able to be with them for Christmas.

It then emerged that Cory had neglected to even tell Ryder about his plans at that point – a mistake Cheyenne described as him ‘digging’ a deeper ‘hole.’
Cheyenne took the matter to her husband Zach and her mother, sitting down with them and telling them what had happened between her and Cory.
Zach took Cory’s side, saying: ‘But, like, you have to put your feelings aside, and, you know, we kind of live by the motto, put the kids first. You got to put the kids first.’
Cheyenne’s mother also expressed sympathy with Cory, saying: ‘I’m sorry. I’m struggling ’cause, you know, that’s my girl. But Cory is a great dad, and I feel he bends for you, as well. He’ll say: “Why, when?”
‘But he pays for those parties. He helps you pay for those birthday parties. He doesn’t fuss. I’m just saying, you know, Cory basically does what you ask. Does he not?’
Cheyenne decided to leave the decision in Ryder’s hands, and when Ryder said she wanted to go with Cory, Cheyenne resigned herself to the fact.
‘He is a really good dad,’ Cheyenne said in a confessional. ‘He loves Ry. He loves all his girls. So I have to respect that, and I have to allow him to create memories with Ryder and his family that are just for them. And because of that, I’m trying not to be selfish in my own feelings, and it’s hard. It’s hard for me to hide them.’
Cheyenne sat Cory down to clear the air with him about the fracas over their Christmas arrangements – and to announce her decision.

‘I just want to say, it was never a problem for her to go and be with you or your family,’ Cheyenne clarified for him. ‘My issue was just the way that you went about it. I feel like the reason that we co-parent so well, and have, and I want to continue to do is the way that we communicate.’
Cory apologized for how he handled the situation, and Cheyenne told him that she left the decision with Ryder, who wanted the trip to go ahead.
Cory reacted with glee but Cheyenne warned him not to expect a ‘trend,’ as ‘Christmas is a big deal and I want her too.’
Cheyenne found herself in tears over not being able to be with her daughter over Christmas, but she acknowledged that ‘co-parenting comes with sacrifice.’
Jade Cline was in the glow of newlywed bliss, having just returned from her honeymoon with her dashing new husband Sean Austin.
However once she got home, she was confronted with the fact her daughter Kloie, six, was having problems at school and returning home sobbing.
Kloie had previously gone to a private preschool and was having trouble adjusting to a public school where the other children were bullying her.
Jade attempted to bring the issue to the staff at the school, only to be met with indifference – so she and Sean decided on homeschooling.
They attempted to teach their daughter together, but their different methods eventually resulted in Sean and Jade having a furious row.
The pressures of homeschooling eventually became too much for Jade and Sean – particularly Sean who was acting as a stay-at-home dad – so they decided to search for a private school for their daughter.
