Teddi Mellencamp’s Ex, Edwin Arroyave, Dates Radiologist Who Supported Him During Cancer Treatment

Teddi Mellencamp’s ex Edwin Arroyave may have just debuted his new girlfriend on social media this week, but he has been secretly dating her for months.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star and Arroyave, 48, separated on October 20, 2024 and by November 1st, Mellencamp, 44, filed for divorce, according to court documents.

Two months later, on January 4th, the founder of Skyline Security met his new girlfriend, a bombshell blonde from Algeria at the private members’ club Soho House in West Hollywood, according to Arroyave, who spoke exclusively with the Daily Mail.

Hayet Amalou, 43, is revealed to be Arroyave’s new girlfriend.

But what was believed to be the start of a new chapter for the businessman – and an exciting time – quickly turned into a life-turning event when his ex Mellencamp experienced a ‘painful headache’ one day. She later admitted that her headaches were present for six months before she sought medical attention.

‘The only person that could take our call was, at the time, Hayet, who I was dating. She wasn’t my girlfriend yet. And she’s actually the one that helped [that day] – that’s how Teddi and her met,’ Arroyave explained.

Arroyave revealed his new girlfriend helped guide for treatment after Mellencamp had a painful headache in February. She shortly after had brain surgery to remove two tumors

‘She actually is the one that helped us figure out where to go. We had no idea what was going on.’

He continued, ‘I literally had to have us on three-way. I was like, “Is it okay if the girl I’m dating can kind of walk us through what is going on?” Because in these moments, every second counts. And luckily, that’s what happened.’

Amalou, a radiologist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles who has been practicing for over 17 years, helped guide the former couple through treatment – including where to go for help and the kinds of questions to ask doctors.

Ultimately, she was the ‘one that got us to help get the [brain] scan,’ since Arroyave said that many hospitals ‘just give you pills and send you back home.’

‘I always say that she’s been Godsent to me because it’s just a crazy coincidence that almost a month-and-a-half prior to finding out that Teddi was going to have to go through this issue, this radiologist has sort of brought me a lot of peace in that sense,’ he told the Daily Mail. ‘She’s like a hero.’

Although Amalou didn’t directly treat Mellencamp – since she works in a different department – Mellencamp had surgery in February at the same hospital where the radiologist works to remove two tumors that doctors found following an MRI and CT scan.

The Two Ts In A Pod podcast host had since undergone multiple treatments of radiation and other types of surgery for stage 4 cancer. Fortunately, this month she revealed that her recent scans showed ‘no detectable cancer.’

Still on immunotherapy for another year, Arroyave told the Daily Mail that ‘Mellencamp is doing okay,’ but ‘she’s still dealing with the aftermath of radiation.’

Arroyave and Amalou vacationed together in St Tropez at the end of August

Arroyave has been supporting his estranged ex throughout her cancer journey and said that they remain ‘amicable exes’ as they both navigate life post-split.

Mellencamp revealed in June that she had also moved on, with boyfriend Ricci Rea, a TV producer. But their relationship was short-lived since she announced a month later that they had separated.

Earlier this month, however, they were spotted together as they went for a stroll in Los Angeles.

Unlike his ex, Arroyave kept his romance a secret from the public eye, apart from posting photos with her on social media in August when they traveled to St. Tropez. According to the reality star, he made the decision not only because of her occupation as a doctor, but also because there are children involved.

‘My kids now know her,’ Arroyave said. ‘We’re pretty open about it now… She spends time with them and stuff like that. I’ve also been very private, as you can probably imagine. I like to keep most of my stuff private.

‘Even on my podcast (The Eds), I’ve alluded to having a girlfriend, but I’ve even kept it very minimal because she does not like attention like that.’

Arroyave and Mellencamp have three kids together: Slate, 12, Cruz, 11, and Dove, five. He also has a 15-year-old daughter, Isabella, from his first marriage.

Amalou, for her part, has a younger daughter (around the same age as Dove), whom she shares with her ex-husband. The radiologist and her ex were married for 14 years before her ex filed for divorce in June 2024.

Arroyave told the Daily Mail about his girlfriend: ‘I always say that she’s been Godsent to me.’ He also called her ‘like a hero’ for helping Mellencamp amid her health battle

The divorce was dismissed by the court in May 2025 due to no action being taken, but was then refiled in another state a month later.

Amalou and her ex’s divorce is still ongoing. Arroyave, who has not moved in with his beau yet, said that Amalou was separated from her ex when he first met her.

Similar to Amalou’s divorce, Mellencamp and Arroyave, who were married for 13 years, are still in the midst of their divorce. They have reportedly put their divorce on hold to focus on their family and the star’s treatment these past few months.

‘It’s interesting that we kind of went through the same thing at the same time as far as when we had our issues, but she was already separated when I had met her,’ Arroyave told the Daily Mail.

‘I mean, that’s the great thing about Hayet too. She’s also been very supportive of [Mellencamp], whereas that normally wouldn’t be the case. As you can imagine, that’s hard for a girlfriend to know that the estranged husband is still a big part of that life… I mean, if anybody would understand it, it’s her.’

The Daily Mail has reached out to Mellencamp’s rep and Amalou for comment.
