Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the daughter of rock legend John Mellencamp asked her ‘cancer friends’ for advice on how best to style her now shorter hair - a stark contrast to her usually long locks.
‘You guys have been so much help in giving me amazing referrals for great wigs that I've been using for the past however many months. But my question now is.... now what? What? The hair is too long for the wigs and I'm sick of the wigs, but like, what are we supposed to do here?’ she asked with a smile.
'Someone send tips,' she added with a laugh. ‘I know I need my roots done, so you don't need to send that tip.'
The reality star also shared a graphic photo of her shaved head, revealing surgery scars as she detailed how much her hair has regrown.

The Instagram update comes just weeks after Mellencamp revealed she is exploring a new romance.

'And I've never wanted anybody to have a guarantee whether it happened or didn't happen, but what I can say is, did I do things that hurt other people? Yes.'
She added: 'To this day, does it still hurt my heart and I wonder if that's why I got cancer? Yes, like it was my payback...nothing goes without payment.'
Mellencamp also recently spoke about wanting to try weight loss medication as her body changed during treatment.

‘I am a health and wellness coach who's dying of cancer,’ she said on the April 22 podcast episode of Two Ts in a Pod in a chat with guest co-host Dolores Catania.
‘And because I gained weight from the steroids [from my treatment], because I'm getting bigger from the steroids, I asked my doctor if I could please have GLP-1s. And he was like, "No!"’
She expressed her frustration after being denied, adding: ‘Let me live!’
Recalling the moment, she said she felt as though she was being told to ‘live my best life, but I don't even get [the medications I want].’

Mellencamp was initially diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022 and underwent more than 17 surgeries over the following two years.
In February 2025, she revealed she had surgery to remove multiple brain tumors, before later confirming that her cancer had progressed to stage 4 and metastasized to her brain and lungs.
By October 2025, she shared that scans showed ‘no detectable cancer.’
However, in January, she admitted she was still facing health challenges, explaining on her podcast that the medications and immunotherapy had taken a ‘toll on [her] body.’
In her most recent update last month, Mellencamp said she now has ‘no trace of cancer’ but continues to undergo immunotherapy.
She also revealed that a new medication triggered Stevens-Johnson syndrome — a rare and serious reaction that typically begins with flu-like symptoms before causing a painful, blistering rash, according to the Mayo Clinic.
