A technology expert has claimed that hundreds of Taylor Swift fans will be turned away at the gates at the popstar’s Sydney and Melbourne shows during her Eras tour in the next two weeks.
On Tuesday’s Mix 106.3’s Canberra Wrapped, hosts Rod Cuddihy, Bethany Larsen, and Lewis Haskew chatted with ‘techspert’ Trevor Long, who co-hosts ‘Anatomy of a Scam’ with former Today show host Deb Knight.
Trevor made the harrowing prediction Swifties will not get into the stadiums due to fake tickets purchased through scammers.
‘I’m really nervous that at the concerts in Sydney and Melbourne, there will be hundreds of people who turn up with the barcode, they will scan it and it says “nope”,’ the scam expert said.
The radio hosts were then stunned to hear that Long’s co-host Knight fell victim to one of these scams, especially given the pair host a podcast about spotting fraud.

Deb recently confessed she was scammed $1200 into buying fake tickets to one of Taylor’s Aussie shows.
‘I promise this was not staged [for their podcast],’ said Trevor. ‘Deb was absolutely devastated when this happened.’
Trevor explained his Anatomy of a Scam co-host was looking for a birthday present for her eight-year-old daughter and found a friend of a friend on Facebook selling a ticket.

The person started a three-way chat on Facebook with Deb and her friend, who said the third person was trustworthy.
However, unbeknownst to Deb and her friend, Facebook had been hacked by a scammer who managed to get $1200 out of Deb for four fake tickets.
Soon after, she went back to the chat to thank the individual, Deb saw that they had disappeared and realised it was an elaborate con.

While Long was on-air, the revelation that his co-host Deb Knight (pictured) fell victim to one of these scams surprised the Wrapped team, given the pair host a podcast about spotting scams
‘Fortunately, because she acted quickly, her bank was able to get the money,’ said Trevor.
The techspert finished his interview with some very sound advice for Swifties looking to buy resale tickets.
‘Did they charge you more than 10% the basic ticket price? Because it’s illegal to sell tickets for more than 10% of the ticketed price,’ he said.
‘And the most important thing…if the ticket has a barcode on it, it’s not legitimate. Because the barcode has not yet been issued for tickets. So if you’ve got a ticket with a barcode, it’s a scam.’
