The pop megastar, 36, has made the publication's list of 30 Greatest Living American Songwriters and has delighted fans by sharing an explanation behind her iconic lyrics.
Nearly two decades ago, Taylor dropped her third single, Our Song in September 2007 which also featured on her debut album Taylor Swift.
The 14-time Award winner had self-penned the song for her high school talent show in ninth grade and due to the popularity of the track from her classmates she insisted to record executives that it had to feature on her album.
Speaking about the track at the time, Taylor explained: 'I wrote this song in my freshman year of high school, for my ninth-grade talent show.
'So I was sitting there thinking, "I've gotta write a song that's gonna relate to everyone in the talent show, and it's gotta be upbeat".

'And at that time, I was dating a guy, and we didn't have a song. So I went ahead and wrote us one, and I played it at the talent show at the end of the year.
'And months later, people would come up to me, and they're like, "I loved that song that you played, Our Song. And then they'd start singing lines of it back to me. And they'd only heard it once, so I thought, "There must be something here!"'
Unsurprisingly, Taylor's instincts were correct, with Our Song remaining one of the star's most popular early hits to this day.
However, fans have always had one question that is in the chorus she sings, "Our song is the slamming screen door / Sneaking out late, tapping on your window / When we're on the phone, and you talk real slow / 'Cause it's late, and your mama don't know".
Over the past two decades, many people have expressed their frustration that Taylor opted for 'talk real slow' when 'talk real low' was right there, and arguably makes much more sense in the context of not wanting to be caught on the phone late at night.
Now Taylor has opened up about the controversial lyric and explained her reason why she changed it.
'I don't like to have a word end with the same letter that the next word starts with,' she said.

'For example, in the song Our Song, it was supposed to be: 'When you're on the phone, and you talk real low,' but I was like: 'I don't like… I don't like the real low.' So, it's turned into 'when you talk real slow.'
Fans took to X to say Taylor has finally answered a question they have been wondering for the last 20 years.
