Taylor Swift is on track to break a major record currently held by Madonna ahead of the release of her twelfth studio album.

The Love Story singer, 35, is currently on cloud nine after her recent engagement to sports star Travis Kelce.

Now Taylor looks set to break out the champagne again as she is on track to become the biggest selling female artist ever.

She is currently just one spot below behind Madonna who currently holds the esteemed title.

The 67-year-old has sold an incredible 252million records across her decades long career.

It’s just above Taylor’s figure of 248million sales since her debut single Tim McGraw, which was released in 2006.

Taylor’s next studio album The Life of a Showgirl will be officially released on October 3.

Streaming platform Spotify previously revealed how pre-saves for the album have already broken their records.

The record is already held by Ms Swift.

Earlier this year Taylor previously broke Madonna’s record for the most UK number one albums with the live release of Lover, her 13th chart-topper.

Madonna’s 15th studio album, which will be the first since 2019’s Madame X, was delayed after she was hospitalised in 2024.

Daily Mail previously revealed Taylor employed DEFCON-3 levels of security to prevent leaks of her new album while she was stealing time to record during her record-breaking Eras’s Tour in 2023 and 2024.

Insiders revealed that only five people have been allowed access to the record, which was recorded in Sweden ahead of its October 3 release date, meaning some contributors have yet to even hear the final product.

They said: ‘Taylor vetted everyone who was involved in the record and only agreed to work with them if she could trust they wouldn’t leak anything.

‘She was determined to keep the development process under wraps. That was harder to do because most of it was recorded in Sweden and not in her home studio.’

Last month, Taylor shocked fans as she revealed her engagement to Travis Kelce.

However, the pop superstar and her fiancé aren’t even living under one roof.

Sources told TMZ that Taylor and Travis, both 35, still haven’t bothered to move in together and are maintaining separate residences even after they shared photos from their romantic engagement photoshoot.

According to the sources, it’s mainly due to difficult logistics that the massively popular couple haven’t combined their physical lives.

They continued: ‘Everyone, from the writers, producers, studio engineers and studio interns went through a rigorous vetting process to make sure they could be trusted.

‘Everyone was asked to sign iron clad NDAs and weren’t even allowed to discuss their contribution with family and friends.

‘Some of the contributors haven’t even heard the finished album. She really wants to keep it safe for her fans.’
