Tanya Bardsley of Real Housewives of Cheshire Undergoes Surgery, Misses NTAs After Health Battle

Tanya Bardsley has revealed she has had a hysterectomy after years of ‘suffering in pain’, she told fans on Instagram on Wednesday.

The Real Housewives Of Cheshire star, 44, said she was forced to miss out on attending the National Television Awards because she ‘couldn’t take the pain anymore’.

Tanya swapped her ‘posh frock’ for a ‘hospital frock’ as she underwent surgery following her adenomyosis diagnosis.

Adenomyosis is a condition where the lining of the womb (uterus) starts growing into the muscle in the wall of the womb. There are treatments that can help with any symptoms.

To prevent the pain, Tanya got a hysterectomy, a surgical procedure to remove the womb.

She wrote: ‘Instead of putting a posh frock on for the ntas tonight I’m oyrtubg a hospital frock on for a hysterectomy ! I can’t take the pain anymore❤️

In June, Tanya opened up about her health battle which was ‘more agonising than labour’ on Loose Women.

During the conversation with panellists Ruth Langsford, Sue Cleaver, Denise Welch and Brenda Edwards she discussed her struggles with adenomyosis.

‘I’d been struggling with ADHD and just sort of got to grips with that and the peri-menopause hit me, and then the periods were getting worse and worse and I just thought surely this can’t just be peri-menopause,’ Tanya said.

She recalled: ‘It was like I was in labour, I was panting in pain.’

The model was eventually diagnosed with the painful condition and recalled how it was ‘worse than labour but just constant’.

She previously revealed she once feared her husband Phil would leave her due to the toll her ‘horrific’ health condition had taken on their relationship.

In a candid interview, Tanya shared that the condition has left her in constant agony and triggered a severe hormonal ‘nightmare’.

As a result, it’s taken a toll on her 11-year marriage to the former Sunderland footballer, with Tanya admitting there were moments she ‘couldn’t stand to be around him.’

Praising Phil for sticking by her, she told The Sun: ‘That shows what kind of man he is because some days I just don’t even want to hang around with myself.’

Describing how her condition affects her, she explained: ‘It’s like something has taken over your body and you can’t control it. I am like an ogre stomping around.

‘The rage just comes up inside of me and takes over. I’m horrible to be around, but obviously my oestrogen is low and the ogre is out.’

Tanya said it like like going from being terrified of losing your partner and family to suddenly feeling so angry you don’t care about anything or anyone – and admitted it’s a horrible place to be.
