Take That and Kylie Minogue are to be the stars of new Netflix documentaries produced by James Corden.

The music biopic for the streaming giant will chart the extraordinary rise of the nineties boy band, delving deep into the group’s archives to reveal never-before-seen footage of their early days.

It will give an insider’s account of the highs and lows of Back For Good singers, featuring exclusive interviews with band members Gary Barlow, Robbie Williams, Howard Donald, Mark Owen, and Jason Orange. It is expected to launch on Netflix in 2025.

It comes fresh off the back of the 2023 four-part series on Robbie Williams, 50, which saw the pop star narrate his own life in a series of sit-down interviews charting his teenage stardom, drug use, and his war with the media.

Originally formed as a five-piece in 1989, Take That became one of the most successful bands in British history with a career spanning four decades.

The streaming giant has found ratings success with a steady stream of music-based documentaries.

Last year Netflix’s Wham! film, which chronicled Andrew Ridgeley and George Michael’s band at the height of their fame, was nominated for Bafta.

The new documentary will be produced by Fulwell 73, which is owned by James Corden, 45, and his long-time business partner Ben Winston, 42.

It is not the first time that the pair have worked with Take That front man Gary Barlow, 53.

In 2014, they produced a documentary for the BBC called When Corden Met Barlow, and have in recent years made a number of Barlow’s music videos.

Corden and the Take That frontman have become such good friends in recent years that Barlow asked the Gavin & Stacey star to duet with him.

The pair put their vocals together for ‘The Kind of Friend I Need’ a song on Barlow’s first album Music Played By Humans.

The recent craze for music documentaries was sparked by the sensational success of Bros: After The Screaming Stops in 2018 which received a rapturous reception from critics and fans alike, and even won a Bafta for pop star twins Matt and Luke Goss. It was also produced by Fulwell73.
