Tae Lewis won the Instant Save on Tuesday’s episode of The Voice and gave new coaches Dan + Shay an advantage headed into the semifinals.
The 31-year-old singer from Goldsboro, North, Carolina, found himself in the bottom four after the Top 12 performed on Monday and faced elimination along with L. Rodgers, Nadège and Zoe Levert.
Tae was the last of the four to perform during the Instant Save and belted out ‘The Church on Cumberland Road’ by Shenandoah.
Show host Carson Daly, 50, afterward asked Dan + Shay if they had anything to say to Tae after his spirited performance.
Dan Smyers, 36, told Tae that it was a ‘finale performance’ and they were proud of him.

Carson gathered Tae along with L. Rodgers, 34, of Baltimore, Zoe, 21, of New Orleans, and Nadege, 26, of Wellington, Florida, on stage as the five-minute voting period opened.
He then revealed at the end of the one-hour episode that Tae had advanced to the semis as part of the top nine.
Tae’s win gave new coaches Dan + Shay three contestants in the semis while John Legend, Reba McEntire and Chance The Rapper each had two contestants remaining on their teams.
The episode opened with Reba, 69, performing her new song I Can’t and John, 45, later performed his song Ordinary People on the 20th anniversary of its recording.
Carson revealed early that Reba’s singer Asher HaVon, 32, of Selma, Alabama, was the first to make it into the semis after his performance on Monday of I’ll Make Love To You by Boyz II Men.
Chance’s singer Maddie Jane, 25, of Chicago, was the next to make it into the semis.
John’s soulful singer Nathan Chester, 28, of Chicago, found out from Carson that he was the third into the top nine.

Dan + Shay’s singer Madison Curbelo, 22, of Westfield, Massachusetts, was the next to advance followed by Reba’s singer Josh Sanders, 36, and John’s rocker Bryan Olesen, 50.
Team Chance’s Serenity Arce, 16, of Jupiter, Florida, was the next to advance followed by Dan + Shay’s singer Karen Waldrup, 37, of Mandeville, Louisiana.
L. Rodgers went first during the Instant Save and took on the Elton John song Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me.
Nadege gave it her all with a strong rendition of the Sade song Smooth Operator.
Zoe tried to win the Instant Save with a cover of Slow Burn by Kacey Musgraves.
Dan + Shay become only the second new coach to take three artists from their team into the semis after Reba did it last season.
The Voice will return on Monday with live semifinals performances.

Season 24 of The Voice was won by Huntley, 34, and his coach Niall Horan, 30.
It was Niall’s second straight win after his singer Gina Miles, 20, won season 23 in May 2023.
The Voice premiered on NBC with Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and CeeLo as coaches along with Christina Aguilera.
Adam won the inaugural season, but Blake then rattled off a three-peat as he won the next three seasons consecutively on his way to stacking nine wins in 23 seasons.
