Dakota Johnson plays Cassandra Webb aka the titular Madame Web.
Madame Web is centered on Webb, a paramedic who develops clairvoyance following a near-death experience and is subsequently tasked with protecting three young superheroines from a dangerous adversary.
Development on the film was revealed to the public in 2019, when screenwriters Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, best known for their work on Morbius, were hired to write the feature’s script.
Although the movie is centered on Marvel Comics characters, Madame Web will serve as the fourth film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, which kicked off with the 2018 release of Venom.
Director S. J. Clarkson was subsequently attached to the project in May of 2020.
Johnson was revealed to have been in talks to join the feature as its lead in 2022.
Performers such as Charlize Theron and Amy Adams had been considered for the role during the movie’s casting process.
Supporting cast members, including Sweeney and Merced, were added to the project’s lineup over the course of 2022.
