Sydney Sweeney gave Stephen Colbert more information than he asked for when she delved into her surprising skydiving trip earlier this year.
The 28-year-old actress, who admitted she was terrified of jumping out of a plane, said Thursday on The Late Show that she calmed her nerves by spending the whole night drinking before going skydiving early the next morning.
But Sydney admitted that, after such a boozy night, she was worried that she might lose her breakfast while plummeting from the sky.
Her chat with Stephen came after both were named ‘Men of the Year’ for the latest GQ issue, in which Sydney finally responded to the controversy over her widely criticized American Eagle jeans ad.
Stephen brought up the skydiving trip when he shared a photo of the Euphoria star screaming in midair while strapped to a skydiving instructor.
‘Why would you do this?’ he asked with concern. ‘Do you like heights?’

After Colbert shared a photo of her in mid-air, Sydney said it had been a ‘terrifying’ ordeal, which made him wonder why she did it in the first place
‘No, I’m scared of heights,’ Sydney responded, saying it was ‘terrifying.’Â
But when the host asked again why she went skydiving, Sydney said she was in a ‘year of trying new things.’
‘So I decided to jump out of a plane!’ she added with a shrug of her shoulders.
Stephen asked what kind of preparation the dive required, but instead of training for the big event, Sydney said she and her her cousins ‘went out to a town which is, like, three bars and one church, and we went barhopping until 3 a.m.’
‘And then I went skydiving at six,’ she added.
Colbert was shocked and asked if Sydney ‘show[ed] up still drunk.’
‘I was a little worried stuff would come out,’ she admitted to laughter from the audience. ‘I would not be the only thing falling out of the sky.’
But despite her fears about barfing all over her skydiving partners, Sydney said her flight above the Earth was ‘a blast.’

She said she was hypnotized by the sight of all the farmland parcels below her and noted she jumped over a lake, though Stephen didn’t find those sights very comforting.Â
‘If you hit a lake at terminal velocity it still doesn’t go well,’ he joked.
Elsewhere in the interview, Sydney spoke about the surprisingly mature way that she managed to convince her parents to let her follow her dream of going to Hollywood to pursue acting.
‘I put together a five-year business plan presentation when I was ten years old,’ she explained, adding that it was a ‘hard sell’ and still took ‘years’ to convince them.
Stephen was fascinated and wanted to see what kind of a presentation a 10-year-old Sydney would have made, but she said her mother had it and hadn’t gotten around to sending her a copy yet.
The comic star was also surprised that Sydney spends much of her time living in Idaho, where her family hails from, rather than in Hollywood.
Sydney explained that she now lives in the home that her great-grandparents once lived in, which was next to her grandmother’s house and houses that her cousins lived in.Â
But her great-grandparents died shortly after she was born, and the house was sold, breaking up the block of family homes.
‘So, growing up, I would run across the backyard to my other cousins, and three years ago I walked up and knocked on the door and said, “I want to buy back my great-grandmother’s house.”‘
Colbert wondered if they were unhappy about her trying to muscle them out, but Sydney explained that they were happy to have the house taken off their hands because they were also annoyed at her and her cousins running through their yard to each other’s homes.Â
She said her family was ‘always running amok,’ so she decided to name the home ‘Camp Run Amok.’
