Sydney radio host Jimmy Smith is stepping away from his role at 2DayFM due to mental health reasons.
The announcer, who co-hosts the Jimmy & Nath with Emma Breakfast Show, confirmed the news in a statement on Friday, admitting his departure was not an easy choice.
‘This has been one of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever had to make,’ he said.
‘Taking this week off made me realise just how much I’ve been struggling with my mental health. I’m not okay right now, and I need to step back and focus on getting well.
‘Working with Nath, Emma and the entire team has meant so much to me. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built together, and I wish them nothing but success.’
Meanwhile, Southern Cross Austereo said Jimmy’s co-hosts Nathan Roye and Emma Chow will continue to broadcast the breakfast show for the remainder of the year.

‘Jimmy Smith has made the difficult decision to step away from the Jimmy & Nath with Emma Breakfast Show on Sydney’s 2DayFM for personal reasons,’ Head of Hit Metro Content Amanda Lee said.
‘Nath and Emma will continue to host 2DayFM Breakfast for the remainder of 2025.
‘We respect Jimmy’s choice and thank him for his contribution to SCA.’
It comes as the Jimmy & Nath with Emma Breakfast Show podcast episodes were mysteriously wiped from LiSTNR and Spotify, while their branded Instagram account looks to have been shut down.
Jimmy’s personal social media also appears to have disappeared.
More to come.
