Surprising outcome in Married At First Sight Jacqui Burfoot and Ryan Donnelly’s AVO drama after nasty court battle

Married At First Sight stars Jacqui Burfoot and Ryan Donnelly are no longer pursuing the AVOs they filed against one another last year amid their nasty court battle.

The pair made legal filings against one another after their relationship fell apart and turned into a social media feud following their appearance on the reality TV show.

According to court documents seen by Daily Mail, the apprehended violence order Donnelly applied for was withdrawn and dismissed on October 2 following a successful mediation in September.

Magistrate Peter Thompson made the decision to withdraw the AVO and vacate the scheduled January 16 hearing.

Meanwhile, the interim restraining order Burfoot was granted by Launceston Magistrates Court in March is currently adjourned sine die, meaning it has been put aside.

The court informed Daily Mail that Burfoot’s AVO was not withdrawn, but does not have a scheduled hearing date unless she wishes to relist the case and pursue it further.

Donnelly and Burfoot made headlines in June last year when they both appeared in Campbelltown Local Court after Donnelly applied for an AVO against his former TV wife.

It was the first time Burfoot came face-to-face with Donnelly since filming for season 12 of MAFS wrapped in November 2024.

Burfoot, who attended court with her MAFS co-star and fiancé Clint Rice, did not say anything to reporters about the allegations outside court after the matter was adjourned.

Her barrister, Marcia Edwards, said it would be prejudicial for her to speak.

Donnelly told reporters he had found it very difficult emotionally, claiming his former screen wife posted about him ‘almost incessantly’.

He said he had never thought his on-screen marriage would turn out this way.

‘It wasn’t the adventure I had planned,’ he told reporters.

‘I wanted to have this amazing chapter of my life and have a comfortable circle, and leave amicably and as friends.’

The matter was set to return to court on July 29, 2025, with Edwards and Wakim reportedly locking in a mediation date in September last year.

‘What we propose is to book in for a contested hearing early next year at the next available date,’ Edwards told the court. ‘We hope to vacate that if mediation is successful.’

The matter was then adjourned to January this year, but has since been vacated, indicating a successful mediation.
