The biggest hint yet that the beloved Christmas film Love Actually could return for a sequel has been dropped.
Universal Pictures – who made the original film in 2003 – has filed paperwork protecting the name, The Sun reports.
The publication claims that the production company have lodged a trademark application days ago to cover a new film and TV series.
The paperwork, filed on December 29, reportedly covers: ‘Entertainment services in the nature of a film series, television series, short form entertainment content, videos and podcasts in the field of news, sports, comedy, drama, music and variety content.’
The film starred the likes of Emma Thompson, Bill Nighy and Hugh Grant in their own love stories around Christmas time.

In 2018 Martine McCutcheon revealed it would be ‘amazing’ to do a Love Actually sequel with the star-studded cast during her appearance on This Morning.
The actress, 47, reprised her well-loved role of Natalie when she starred opposite her on-screen love Hugh Grant in the Love Actually reunion for Comic Relief the year before in 2017.
Despite insisting she would love to do a sequel, the former EastEnders star hinted she doesn’t think a second movie is on the cards.
Asked about the possibility of a second movie, she said: ‘Do you know what, as an actress, I’d love to be with that amazing cast again!
‘It was Richard Curtis’ dream come true to do the Comic Relief short film. We should all be in the sequel!’

The Christmas flick follows eight couples dealing with their turbulent love lives as they prepare for the festive season.
Martine and Hugh starred alongside Keira Knightley, Liam Neeson, Colin Firth, Alan Rickman and Andrew Lincoln in the film.
In 2017 for Comic Relief, the star-studded cast reunited 14 years after the original movie to pull off a spectacular short film.
Viewers went wild for the follow-up clip which gave fans an insight into what had happened to the Love Actually characters.
Martine praised the short film as a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ opportunity as she hailed it as the ‘best thing’ to be a part of.
She said: ‘The Love Actually reunion was brilliant. It was a once-in-a-lifetime thing. Even Emma Thompson said it’s never going to happen again!
‘It was the best thing to be a part of. So good for my career and a little reminder of the movie.’
