Sting discusses kids inheriting his $550M fortune.

Sting has not changed his mind about his choice not to leave his $550 million fortune to his six children.

The 74-year-old singer – – was interviewed by CBS News Sunday Morning's Mark Phillips, who asked if he still plans not to leave his wealth to his brood.

The music artist has doubled down on his position, telling Phillips he always intended for them to earn their own money. 

He shares Joe, 49, and Fuschia, 44, with ex-wife Frances Tomelty. And he shares Mickey, 42, Jake, 40, Eliot, 35, and Giacomo, 30 with wife Trudie Styler.

Sting said he believes telling children they 'don't have to work' is 'a form of abuse that I hope I'm never guilty of.'

The proud dad shared, 'All of my kids have been blessed with this extraordinary work ethic, whether it's the DNA of it or whether I've said to them, "Guys, you've got to work. I'm spending our money. I'm paying for your education. You've got shoes on your feet. Go to work."'

He reasoned, 'That's not cruel. I think that's there's there's a kindness there and a trust in them that they will make their own way. They're tough, my kids.'

'It's a wonderful and difficult thing to do,' he added. 'So I haven't promised them anything. 

'I'll obviously help them if they're in trouble, but they're not waiting for a handout. They're too independent.'

According to Celebrity Net Worth, the singer is worth about half a billion dollars. 

In January the longtime musician paid his former bandmates in The Police $815,000 after they started suing him over unpaid streaming royalties.

He, along with his company Magnetic Publishing, was said to owe more than $2 million in 'arranger's fees' to drummer Stewart Copeland, 73, and guitarist Andrew Summers, 83.
