Steph Claire Smith was overwhelmed with emotion when she discovered she had landed the coveted Seafolly Australia Back to Paradise modelling gig.
The model, 29, said the swimwear brand’s ‘high summer campaigns’ were her favourite growing up and she always wanted to pose in one.
But when she finally got the call from her agent, the podcaster was brought to tears over her past body image issues, she told her Instagram followers on Tuesday.
‘The moment my agent Matt called me to say that the global campaign for Seafolly Australia was confirmed I immediately started tearing up,’ she wrote.
‘I was happy of course, but I found myself wishing it was back when I was a full time model.’

She continued: ‘However, I was quickly reminded by how I used to approach big campaigns like this. How I felt like I needed to ‘prepare’ for the shoot.
‘I’d restrict myself from foods that I loved weeks or months leading up to it. I’d overdo it with exercise to the point it felt like punishment or a chore.
‘And then on the day I’d be so hard on myself and only focus on insecurities, but I have come so far in letting go of this idea of perfection.’

Steph went on to say in her lengthy Instagram caption, which she shared alongside stunning photos from the shoot, that she now respects her body ‘for its function’.
Her appearance has become secondary to her current ‘healthy routine’ which is far removed from the battles she once had with eating disorders.
The genetically-blessed beauty was happy to reveal she changed nothing about her diet or exercise routine in the lead up to her lucrative modelling gig.

‘I want to show [these pictures] to 20-year-old Steph so bad and say, ‘We got there! We got the campaign! But we also got to a state of being content in our own skin.’
Despite being on of the most in-demand models in Australia, Steph first opened up about her Bing Eating Disorder in 2017 on her Keep It Cleaner YouTube channel.
While living for 10 months in America at age 20, her modelling agency measured her body twice a week and constantly demanded she lose weight or she wouldn’t get gigs.
