‘Andy was one of the greatest frontmen to ever grace a stage. His presence was unmatched, his songwriting was incredible and his voice was one of a kind.’
‘We are thankful for the short time we had with him and the amazing things we did as a band,’ the band continued.
‘We saw incredible things, played incredible stages and met incredible people.’
The band also called him a ‘true artist, performer, lyricist and genuinely lovely man’, and said they appreciated his contribution to music.
The band were discovered by BBC Introducing and went on to sign with independent record label Distiller Records through which they released their debut album What Came From Fire in 2010.
They had a second album Angels and Enemies which was released in March 2012.
In early 2012 the band announced a full UK and European tour to coincide with the release of their second album.
Then in October 2013, the band announced that they were to go on an indefinite hiatus.
Fans have been left devastated by the loss as they penned on social media their tributes: ‘Jesus that is a shocker! Sound of guns were an incredible band, so glad I got to see them from the start in 2008, should have 100% been so much bigger, RIP Andy.’,
