Legendary songwriter Diane Warren announced Wednesday that her beach house of nearly 30 years was destroyed in the wildfires raging across Southern California.
The 68-year-old veteran hitmaker posted a photograph of a prominent rock in the surf, which she photographs annually to commemorate the death of her ‘awesome insane friend’ Leah from cancer.
‘This is the last pic I took of Leah’s rock from my beach house. I’ve had this house for almost 30 years. It looks like it was lost in the fire last [night],’ Diane wrote on Instagram.
‘There’s a rainbow shining on it which I’m taking as a sign of hope for all creatures who have been affected by this tragedy.’
Warren also reassured her 249K social media followers that the chickens, ducks, goats, cows, and horses living at her rescue ranch ‘are okay, which is the most important thing. Stay safe everyone.’
The Songwriters Hall of Famer – who previously had a house damaged by the 1994 Northridge earthquake – spends the bulk of her time penning future classics in her messy Hollywood Hills office.

Diane’s post received supportive comments from Titanic alum Frances Fisher, who wrote: ‘We had good times there; our memories will never burn. Glad your ranch and all your rescue animals are safe. I love you.’
Legendary songwriter Paul Williams commented: ‘I’m so sorry but glad your animals are safe and that you are. Prayers are born for all who suffered this catastrophic event. Love you… Paul.’
Warren has penned five of JoJo’s songs including The Change in 2020, and the pop star wrote: ‘Diane I am so so sorry.’
Savage Garden alum Darren Hayes commented: ‘Diane – I love you. This is devastating. My heart is with you.’
The Realsongs founder wrote Belinda Carlisle’s five-track EP Kismet in 2023, and The Go-Go’s frontwoman wrote: ‘OMG. I’m so sorry.’

Diane – who’s only a Tony Award away from EGOT status – has written nine No. 1 hits and 33 top-10 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 including tracks for Cher, Celine Dion, LeAnn Rimes, and Aerosmith.
Warren’s 40-year career was chronicled in Bess Kargman’s documentary Diane Warren: Relentless, which will be released in US theaters this Friday and MasterClass on January 16.
On December 17, the Say Don’t Go co-writer’s track The Journey performed by H.E.R. for Netflix war dama The Six Triple Eight was shortlisted with 13 other tracks for the 97th Academy Awards’ best original song category.
