So it’s little wonder that he’s set to have a crack at forging his own music career as he’s set to audition on the upcoming series of American Idol.

The singer revealed his big news on Instagram earlier this month and will be seen trying to impress judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Carrie Underwood when the long-running talent show returns to screens on March 9. 

His father found fame as one fifth of an American vocal group who first formed back in 1993 in Orlando, Florida.

The group went on to become one of the best-selling artists in the world, shifting over 130 million albums worldwide, thanks to hits including Larger Than Life and Quit Playing Games.

It’s Backstreet Boys star Brian Littrell’s son Baylee!

The 22-year-old country music star is the only child of the I want It That Way singer and his actress wife Leighanne Littrell. 

Brian recently shared his pride at his son’s upcoming onscreen audition, revealing that he’s been ‘busting his butt’.

Speaking with Today, Brian told how his son is getting a real taste of what it takes to make it in the music industry, despite having grown up on the road with his father.

He shared: ‘He was just texting me last night, going, “Dad, dude, how do you do this? Like, it’s hard work”. 

‘He’s been busting his butt, and I’m super proud of him. He kind of gets a new sense of reality of what this is.’

Earlier this month, Baylee excitedly teased his appearance on season 23 of American Idol, writing: ‘Well guys, recently I had the opportunity to audition for @americanidol. Tune in to see the season premiere and what happens on 3/9/25!’

Brian shared his excitement about his son’s success in the comments, writing: ‘Bubba I can’t wait!!!!! Good Luck we’re all counting on you hahaha.’

Baylee started out his music career as a young child, beginning with musical theatre before branching out into country music. 

He even began opening for Backstreet Boys shows, performing two songs for tghe band.

In 2019, Baylee released his debut album 770-Country on his parents record label BriLeigh records.

While in that same year he was announced as the opening act for the North American leg of the Backstreet Boys’ DNA World Tour. 

Baylee previously opened up about growing up on the road amid the band’s huge fame.

He told People: ‘I’ve pretty much grown up on the road since I can remember. So my first crib was a bunk on a tour bus. So really, my first memories are being out on the road and being abroad.

His proud parents shared their excitement and support for his new career move

The singer went on to list some of the amazing experiences he had as the son of the huge pop star. 

He said: ‘I got to introduce my dad at 5 years old. And then when I was 10, I started opening up for them. I would sing two or three songs before the opener would come out and play their set. And then that transcended into 2019, being able to go on a 42-show run with them and be the official opening act. That was the experience of a lifetime.’

And amid his dad’s pride at his latest career move, Baylee went on to recall the moment that his dad foresaw a successful career for his boy, after having spent years wanting to be a part of the group.

He added: ‘I had to be 6 or 7 at the time and I’d go crash the wardrobe closet and put on their outfits and stuff before shows. I have a memory of myself standing in front of a mirror in my dad’s show outfit and I was like, “Hey, can I be a part of the group?” And he put his hands on my shoulders and he was like, “One day. One day you’re going to get your shot”.’
