Society Snobs Gossip About ‘Unlikely Friends’ Kristin Fisher & Emma Pills at LA Party

Most people hit their 40s and decide their days of partying from dawn ’til dusk are behind them.

But young-at-heart eyebrow queen Kristin Fisher seems to live by the philosophy you’re only as old as the friends you keep.

The eastern suburbs gossip crowd were scratching their heads this week after they were treated to a flurry of blurry Instagram Stories showing the Double Bay salon owner, 40, painting the town red in LA with 24-year-old socialite Emma Pillemer.

Kristin, a single mother of two, has spent the last few days partying across the City of Angels with Emma, a 2019 graduate of the $45,000-a-year Moriah College and founder of trendy Gen Z jewellery brand Emma Pills.

You’d think the KF (as she is known in Sydney circles) would feel more comfortable at a Vaucluse dinner party with her young friend’s parents – Sydney funds manager Russell Pillemer and charity director Carole – but clearly this is one ageing Millennial who prefers to kick it with the kids. We’re not here to judge!

The party-loving pair have been staying at the luxury Sunset Tower Hotel, where rooms cost upwards of $800 per night. They were spied on Monday hitting up the upmarket restaurant Lucia for cocktails.

At one stage, Kristin bragged on Instagram that bar staff ‘thought she was 29’ – that’s the sort of confidence boost money can’t buy.

For someone whose business was recently tied up in almost $1million worth of debt (she struck a deal with the taxman to pay back one tenth of that) many would be forgiven for asking how Kristin was paying for her champagne-soaked jaunt in Hollywood.

And that’s before you even consider the question of why she was cosying up to globe-trotting socialite 16 years her junior when, in the past, she has typically leaned into an older crowd.

So, for those two reasons, the eastern suburbs group chats have been abuzz with gossip and innuendo this week about KF and Emma’s wild girls’ trip.

Well, it turns out Kristin isn’t simply scouring TikTok for new friends. She actually has a long-standing friendship with the Pillemers – mainly through matriarch Carole, who is a client at her eponymous salon.

Emma, like her mother, also gets her brows done at Kristin’s shop. Furthermore, the cosmetician has been seen at Pillemer functions, as well as Emma Pills events.

As for how she can afford her travels, we’re also told KF is a little more budget-conscious these days – what with that tax bill just shy of $100,000 she has to pay off.

We’ve heard whispers that she’s such fun to be around that society types are happy to chip in just to have her company.

But that’s not the only gossip we’re hearing from our sources.

Rumour has it Kristin is palling up to Emma after her recent falling-out with Shelley Sullivan, the MCoBeauty cosmetics founder, saw her social circle shrink a few notches.

As previously reported, relations between the one-time friends – who were once so close that Shelley provided Kristin with a character reference when she fronted court in 2021 – were said to be frosty at the Silver Party in May.

Even though they were surrounded by mutual friends, including interior designer Blainey North and tracksuit mogul Pip Edwards, there was apparently no interaction, not even a polite air kiss, between the former pals.

One guest said she spent much of the evening in ‘social Siberia’, adding: ‘All her usual “friends” were at the opposite end of the room. It was all a bit weird.’

Kristin – an on-off pal of Dina Broadhurst’s – has faced a string of controversies in recent years that have made her one of the most talked-about women in Sydney’s east.

In November 2023, her salon Kristin Fisher Eyebrows entered voluntary administration with debts exceeding $900,000.

The ATO initially rejected a proposed restructuring plan that would have repaid $216,000 of the debt, leading to the appointment of joint administrators.

Factors contributing to the financial difficulties included the impact of lockdowns, the breakdown of Kristin’s marriage, and a lack of financial advice.

In January 2024, Kristin struck a deal with the tax authorities to wipe out nearly $1million in unpaid taxes. She celebrated the resolution with expensive champagne.

In July 2021, she was arrested for buying cocaine after police found her in the passenger seat of a car with two bags of white powder at her feet.

She failed to appear in court three times, blaming her children for losing her court notice by removing it from where it was pinned to the fridge.

Kristin later appeared in court to have her criminal conviction annulled. She expressed deep remorse, describing the incident as a ‘dreadful mistake’ and she was deeply embarrassed by her actions.

Magistrate Ross Hudson accepted her guilty plea and opted not to record a conviction, provided she was of good behaviour for six months.

But in annulling her conviction, Magistrate Hudson also criticised the widespread cocaine use in the eastern suburbs, calling it a ‘stain on our community’.
