Aussie women rejoice! You can ditch those ankle-breaking stilettos for the foreseeable future.
Sneakers still remain the go-to style of shoes according to this year’s Paris and Milan Fashion Week.
And Aussie stylist to the stars Jess Pecoraro says we won’t see the trend disappearing anytime soon.
Pecoraro, who counts Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, Jesinta Campbell and Delta Goodrem as her A-list clients, says high performance sneakers are especially on trend, with Asics being one of the most popular brands on the market.
‘Asics do lifestyle and performance, and you can wear both. And I don’t run in them, I wear them with suits,’ she told Daily Mail Australia.
‘I think that’s a great thing about Asics, that they kind of crossover. You can wear them to exercise, but then you can put a beautiful suit on and they look cool.
‘They’re like the “it” sneaker at the moment.’
Pecoraro, who recently returned from Paris, said the chunkier the better when it comes to choosing your kicks in the upcoming months.

‘Those chunkier, bulkier styles. It’s not kind of slim-line. You can wear those “dad sneakers” with an elegant suit. And when it comes to activewear they look great with leggings.’
Pecoraro says while she will always be a fan of a high heel, she rarely wears them, and personally feels more confident in a pair of sneakers.
She also believes sneakers are especially embraced by Aussies because fashion Down Under is more ‘relaxed’.
‘I will always be a fan of heels, but I hardly wear them. It is all that clomping around. When I put on a sneaker I feel comfortable, me, confident, I can do anything. And Australia is very relaxed country, so it works,’ she says.
And the upcoming fashion trends for summer are perfect to style them with, as Pecoraro says we will see a lot of ‘cute, nautical and sporty themes’.
She says more and more women are ditching the heels for comfortable sneakers
The mini skirt trend is also back, albeit a little shorter.
