A businesswoman whose company went bust is raising eyebrows in Sydney’s well-heeled east with her carefree lifestyle that looks to be one long champagne brunch.
A public notice reveals Sanja Maria‘s company Sanja Maria Aesthetics Pty Ltd – which traded as Face and Body by SM – was voluntarily wound up on July 2 last year, with Trent Devine appointed as liquidator.
The record makes for grim reading, but Sanja’s online presence tells a different story.
Until recently, the 40-year-old cosmetic nurse’s social media feed projected the image of a woman at the peak of her success.
It’s understood that screenshots from her recently deleted Instagram page were being shared among Sydney‘s gossipy social set.
One post reportedly showed her flying to Italy to attend a friend’s wedding, and she also toasted to ‘new beginnings’ in the Amalfi sun.

Rogan, who owns laser clinics in Double Bay, Cairns and New Zealand, is perhaps best known for her headline-making Federal Court clash with billionaire WiseTech founder Richard White.
She claimed White had promised her a $13.1million Vaucluse mansion – only to take back the keys after his wife, criminal lawyer Zena Nasser, discovered their affair.
At the heart of the dispute was a $92,000 bill for luxury furniture which Rogan claimed she purchased at White’s direction in anticipation of moving in.
The matter was eventually settled.
Sanja was among several prominent women who stood by Rogan through it all.
But while she may have friends in high places, there are also eastern suburbs spies scratching their heads over her enviable lifestyle following her business troubles.
One insider tells the Mail that Sanja threw a ‘no-expense-spared’ 40th birthday party at Double Bay hotspot Tanuki that continued into the wee hours.

And it’s also claimed that Sanja checked into The Calile Hotel in Brisbane – where rooms start at more than $700 a night – for a getaway recently, before heading out to an expensive steak and oyster restaurant.
Whatever business woes Sanja had leading up to her company going bust are clearly in the past, however.
While a ‘Face + Body by SM’ clinic on Military Road in Mosman is now marked permanently closed on Google, a ‘Face by SM’ continues to operate legally on Oxford Street in Paddington.
An active ABN remains registered to Sanja Murray, one of several names linked to the cosmetic injector, who has also operated under Sanja Novosel.
Perhaps her story isn’t so unusual. These days, it’s fairly common to see prominent eastern suburbs businesswomen triumphantly escape from the jaws of defeat.
Take Double Bay eyebrow queen Kristin Fisher, for example.
How Sanja bounced back is unclear, but a source says ‘people are definitely talking’.
Sanja worked with Laser Clinics Australia before branching out to launch her own boutique clinic catering to Sydney’s influencer and socialite crowd.
A registered nurse with more than 15 years’ experience in non-surgical rejuvenation, she was regularly featured in industry outlets SPA+CLINIC and Professional Beauty.
Neither Sanja nor Face by SM have commented on the 2024 liquidation – an ASIC notice of which can be found here – and our attempts to contact the clinic went unanswered this week.
