Skye Wheatley’s tradie partner Lachlan Waugh has hit back at claims his company Shopfit Co has hit financial hardship after it went into external administration in August and was taken over by third party insolvency experts.
Waugh says his business renovation company is still solvent, despite a failed deal to pay back almost $1 million to creditors.
The company entered a Small Business Restructuring program owing $927,000 to the Australian Tax Office and thousands more to a range of small businesses and Gold Coast Council, according to the Gold Coast Bulletin.
The publication reports the administrator hired to look into Shopfit’s books found that parties, including Lachlan, had borrowed $357,472 from the company, which could be recouped in the event of a liquidation.
Mr Stimpson’s report made mention of a property in the Gold Coast suburb of Tallai, where Lachlan and Skye had been documenting an extensive renovation on social media.
The report claimed administrators had not been given accurate financial records and recommended that creditors reject the deal.
The rejection of the deal means the company is no longer in external administration and it can no longer use the program to pay back debts.
However Lachlan has claimed in a since-deleted Instagram Story that the company was never in external administration.

‘Nothing was ever in external administration, we’ve maintained control of the company the whole f***ing time, so where’s the good publicity? Where is it at?’ Lachlan wrote.
Speaking to the publication this week, Lachlan said that loans made to him by the company were his way of ‘drawing earnings’ from Shopfit.
‘[Shopfit has] made significant profits up to the end of the September Quarter and appeared to be balance sheet solvent,’ he said.

‘Effectively the loan balance represents the wage you would have received from the company over the number of years it accumulated.’
The company has been at the helm of completing major renovations for popular cafes, bars, restaurants and high profile brands including Red Rooster, Quicksilver and Sass and Bide.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted Waugh for comment.
