Sian Welby has admitted her relationship to fiancé Jake Beckett has been ‘put on the back-burner’ and she doesn’t have ‘capacity’ to plan her wedding after sharing her struggles with motherhood.
Jake, who works as a producer, got down on one knee and proposed to Sian during a romantic getaway in 2023.
As she and Jake ‘tag team’ parenting their 17-month-old daughter Ruby in between their schedules, Sian has revealed she can’t consider planning her big day right now.
Date nights between the mother-of-one and Jake are also nonexistent despite their efforts to make time for each other in between working and caring for Ruby.
Sian told the Daily Mail: ‘The fiancé takes the back burner bless him, because both of you as a couple are trying to find time for the baby. And then you realise when are we gonna do a date night and bless us we have tried.
‘We hit 8pm and we’re closed out, we’re like falling asleep on the Tube home and you realise how hard it is.

‘Everyone says those first two years they’re ill, they don’t sleep, you’re trying to adjust. You get through one phase and then they start another one.
‘I think in general I’m in the trenches and so me and Jake have to just keep checking in with each other. You know, take it in turns to apologise.’
On her lack of wedding preparation, Sian said she’s reluctant to start planning the nuptials because she doesn’t want it to become another task.
She candidly said: ‘My brain hasn’t got the capacity for it. I want to enjoy it [wedding planning]. The last thing I want is a wedding to be another job or feel like a chore or stress.
‘I think when I’m in the right headspace, maybe if, I don’t know I find time for it and slow down.’
Sian met Jake whilst working at Global, the parent company of Capital radio.
When she does get to walk down the aisle, Sian wants a large ceremony: ‘I would love a big like a barn or, you know, a sort of big event where everyone could just have a laugh and free bar.’

The presenter, 39, revealed to the Daily Mail how she returned to work just three months after giving birth as the ‘breadwinner’ of the family – and her fear of the roles she worked 15 years for disappearing.
Sian, who hosts Capital’s breakfast show alongside Jordan North and Chris Stark, also candidly admitted she doesn’t prioritise herself.
‘I would love to for once just have time to just focus on something for me. Well, for me and my other half, but I don’t really put myself first,’ she admitted while launching ITV Studios’ new mobile quizzing app The Spin Off.
‘I can’t remember the last time I organised my own birthday or even just arranged to do something with girl mates.
‘A lot of the time when I’m prioritising, it’s work and baby, and so this wedding is getting pushed back and back and back because we’re both like at capacity.
‘I won’t be the first for this to happen. I never wanted to be engaged for years and years, but here we are.’
Sian was still working part-time as a shop assistant for New Look when a starring role in an advert for New! Magazine led to her being spotted by former Channel 5 owner Richard Desmond.
She was unveiled as the new face of Channel 5 News in 2010 and became the broadcaster’s lead weather presenter for six years, marking her ‘big break’.

Speaking about returning to work three months after giving birth, she said: ‘I’m very realistic that I can’t be sure what would happen if I took a full year off.
‘I don’t know many people in this industry that would take that much time out. You have to be very secure within your job and your role.
‘I have bills to pay. I have to provide for my family, and I had built this up, it was 15 years in the making, some of these jobs are finally there.
‘People might know me now from This Morning or Capital. Those jobs took a long time to get, and I wasn’t ready to potentially throw them away or let them, or the momentum slow down. I was also really loving the fact it was finally getting going.’
