More than a year after the latest update on the second season, Showtime has given the Neil Patrick Harris series Uncoupled the boot.
The 50-year-old actor’s show, a romantic comedy and drama, had been saved from a prior Netflix cancellation.
Showtime had planned to be the platform for the show’s second season, but now production is not moving forward, according to Deadline.
Filming was slated to begin in May, after a delay due to last year’s WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
It was noted by the publication that ten scripts were mostly finished before the network decided to scrap the program.

The show’s premise was based around a gay man reentering singledom in New York City after he was abruptly dumped by his partner of 17 years.
The short-lived show first arrived on Netflix on July 29, 2022 and the 30-minute-long series peaked at number six on the streamer’s weekly Top 10 rankings one week.
Signs that the show wouldn’t last on the platform came amid speculation that Uncoupled was being shopped around to another network.
In May 2022, the trailer was released, showcasing Harris annihilating the idea of love as he whacked a red bouquet against the trash while reminiscing about his memories with his hedge-fund manager husband Colin, played by Tuc Watkins, 58.
Later the two of them were seen in couple’s therapy, before his other half walked out the door for good.
‘Overnight, Michael has to confront two nightmares: losing what he thought was his soulmate and suddenly finding himself a single gay man in his mid-forties in New York City,’ the official logline read.
Other stars of the show included Emerson Brooks as TV weatherman Billy; Tisha Campbell as Michael’s business partner Suzanne; Brooks Ashmanskas as art dealer Stanley.
Marcia Gay Harden also appeared as Claire, an Upper East Side socialite.

The series was created by Sex and the City‘s Darren Star and Modern Family‘s Jeffrey Richman.
Uncoupled was Neil’s second series for Netflix, after his role as Count Olaf in A Series of Unfortunate Events, which ran for three seasons and wrapped in 2019.
Harris is best known for his portrayal of Barney Stinson on CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother.
He’s also recognized for his breakthrough role as Doogie Howser, M.D. in the early ’90s, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe.
