The anonymous woman, who accused rappers Jay-Z and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs of raping her as a teen in 2000, revealed why she lied about being sexually assaulted.
In a bombshell recording, obtained by ABC News, the accuser, known as Jane Doe, claimed to private investigators that her attorney pushed her to sue the 55-year-old billionaire music mogul, who is married to global superstar Beyoncé.
When asked about her claim that Jay-Z (born Shawn Corey Carter) raped her at an VMA’s afterparty, when she was 13, the woman walked back on her story.
Per an excerpt of the audiotape, one of the investigators, asked: ‘He was just there, but he didn’t have anything to do with any sexual acts towards you?’
‘Yeah,’ Jane Doe replied after previously naming him in a sexual assault case, which was filed in December 2024 and dismissed last month.
She went on to claim that her attorney, Tony Buzbee, put her up to suing the father-of-three, who is reportedly worth $2.5 billion.

‘He was the one that kind of pushed me towards going forward with him, with Jay-Z,’ the woman insisted.
When investigators asked specifically if she was speaking about Buzbee, she said: ‘Yeah.’
In a statement to ABC News, Buzbee called Jane Doe’s claim that he pushed her to bring a case against Jay-Z as a ‘blatant lie’ that directly contradicts ‘all the documentary evidence.’
During his interview with ABC News’ Aaron Katersky on Wednesday’s episode of Good Morning America, Jay-Z’s lawyer spoke about Jane Doe’s wild allegation and his efforts to clear his client’s name.
‘People around Mr. Carter wanted to know what happened behind closed doors and, so, they asked for her to be interviewed,’ Spiro said.
‘The interview occurred and the tape speaks for itself,’ he explained. ‘She says — in no uncertain terms — Mr. Carter did not do this. It is effectively a lie. The only reason Mr. Carter is even involved in this is because she was pushed to involve him – pushed to include him — by a lawyer.’
In a statement provided to ABC News, Spiro, denied that Jane Doe ever had any interaction with his client.
‘Mr. Carter doesn’t know Jane Doe, never met Jane Doe. There’s no truth to any of this,’ Spiro said.
