The sudden dismissal of a late-night Sky News Australia presenter has sparked an offensive conspiracy theory among conservatives.
Liz Storer, who co-hosted The Late Debate panel show with Caleb Bond, vanished from screens about six weeks ago without explanation.
Angry viewers are now demanding to know why she was fired – and in recent days, a vicious false rumour has started doing the rounds among conservatives.
When Inside Mail was alerted to a Facebook group with more than 1,200 members demanding the ousted commentator be reinstated, we asked around our usual sources at Sky News, but were met with a wall of silence.
The only person who would speak on the possible reason for Storer’s sacking was right-wing firebrand Mark Latham, who is known to despise Sky News ever since the network fired him in 2017 for making a string of controversial remarks on Outsiders.

Latham believes Storer was discarded because she didn’t toe the line on Israel.
While Sky News Australia – and News Corp in general – is known for its vocal support of Israel, there is no evidence to suggest this was the reason for Storer’s dismissal.
Since Storer’s exit from the Late Debate, Freya Leach, a rising network star and former Liberal candidate for Balmain, has been filling in for her.
‘It’s disgraceful for Sky News to advertise itself as standing for free speech when they have sacked a popular presenter for the thought crime of not being as lavishly sycophantic to Israel as Bolt and Markson,’ Latham told Inside Mail, referring to pro-Israel Sky News personalities Andrew Bolt and Sharri Markson.
Latham went on to make an additional remark which we won’t repeat.
It’s not the first time the axing of a Sky News host has somehow been linked to Israel.
When Erin Molan was dropped late last year, there were false suggestions she was let go for being overly supportive of the Jewish state.
Despite being entirely untrue, the claims were widely repeated across Israeli media.

Eventually, Sky News Australia host Caroline Marcus, who is Jewish, refuted the ‘upsetting theory’, calling it a ‘lie’. She said she found the claim especially troubling given it was being promoted by pro-Israel activists she usually respects.
Meanwhile, Storer confirmed her sacking in a private Instagram message to a fan that was posted in the ‘MISSING LIZ STORER SUPPORT GROUP’ on Facebook.
‘It’s lovely to be missed. Sky decided my time with them was up – dismissed me six weeks ago now,’ wrote Storer, the former national director of lobby group Advance.
‘It’s been a blast these two-and-a-half years though. Not sure what’s next, but I’ll keep everyone posted on here once I know.’
Latham, now an Independent MP in the NSW Upper House, has also been posting in the ‘support group’. In addition to his statement to us invoking Israel, he told the group’s members the network had caved in to ‘political correctness’.
‘Don’t think for a moment that Sky News is immune from the disease of political correctness. The managers off-screen are woke,’ he wrote.
(Inside Mail can confirm this is partly true: not everyone who works at Sky News is a conservative ideologue. Quite the opposite, in fact.)
Latham went on to claim Sky News’ conservative stance was just for show, and that management would’ve felt threatened by ‘Liz Storer’s direct, common-sense views’.
‘They don’t tolerate free speech and differences of opinion any more than the ABC, in their own way,’ he went on to say.
Latham didn’t hold back in attacking current Sky presenters, calling Bolt ‘censorious’ and accusing pundit Paul Murray of being ‘not fair dinkum’.

After a Facebook group demanding Storer’s reinstatement gathered more than a thousand members, the presenter confirmed to a loyal fan she’d been let go about six weeks earlier
He also dismissed Markson as a ‘single-issue’ host – presumably in reference to antisemitism – and accused her of supporting a censorship-driven, establishment agenda.
Chris Kenny also came under fire, with Latham slamming his past work for Malcolm Turnbull and his support for the Voice to Parliament in the 2023 referendum.
‘One of you is more sincere and valuable than 100 Sky News floggers,’ he told the Facebook group’s members.
Others in the Facebook group expressed their disappointment without being quite as strident as Latham was.
‘Losing Liz Storer was a very big confirmation that I have found Sky becoming less relevant,’ one of them wrote.
‘Sky always sacks the good ones,’ said another.
‘She was sensational on TV and said it exactly how it was,’ added a third.
Since leaving Sky, Storer has re-emerged on the 2SM Super Radio Network, making an appearance on Chris Smith’s show.
Coincidentally, Smith was also dismissed by Sky in 2022 following an alleged incident at a work Christmas party.
Speaking on air with Smith on Friday, Storer told listeners she was aware of the group rallying behind her.
‘I have been blown away by that,’ she said of the support.
