Shania Twain opened up about her friendship with legend Jon Bon Jovi on Saturday after he called her his ‘spirit sister.’
The 58-year-old singer – who recently revealed her VERY bizarre diet and exercise regime – said that she and the Livin’ on a Prayer singer bonded over their shared vocal chord struggles.
‘It just warms my heart,’ she told People of the icon’s comment. ‘It is a very special bond because there are very few singers that have ever had this nerve damage.
‘It’s not a typical singer’s issue,’ the I’m Gonna Getcha Good songstress revealed.
The two singers had the same vocal cord procedure done and even share the same surgeon.

In his Hulu miniseries, Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story, the 62-year-old got candid about his battle with his vocal cord health in 2015.
After ignoring his pain and symptoms for three years, the You Give Love a Bad Name singer reached out to the starlet who experienced the same prior.
‘I didn’t ask John how his [vocal cords] were damaged,’ she began, ‘We just discussed my process
‘I shared my experience with him, and before he took the plunge, I just shared the best I could without influencing him in any way.’
‘I didn’t get deep like that. We got personal about it, but I didn’t ask for the real details,’ Twain added.
‘I can only share mine with you anyway. There would’ve been no way for me to ever maintain a single career with that damage, and the nerves don’t repair. You can do so much to compensate the physiology, and I did do that for a year,’ she went on.
Just like Bon Jovi, the starlet healed and came back stronger than ever.
The vocal powerhouse even kicked off her own Las Vegas residency this past Friday.
‘What I did was I said, “Okay, if I’m never able to sing again, if I never find a solution. I will write for other singers who can sing.” And I was actually very excited about that,’ she told People.
‘I would spend more time writing and I would continue to be able to hear my songs recorded, and that didn’t make me sad. It made me very happy.
‘So I say, look on the bright side and follow that. Just keep following the light. Don’t go anywhere dark. It’s not worth it,’ she finished.
Back in February, Shania Twain performed during the 2024 MusiCares Person of the Year Honoring the Bed of Roses singer during the 66th GRAMMY Awards.
