Fans of rapper Shaggy were left outraged after the Jamaican-American star cancelled his appearance at the Jammin Festival in Brisbane on Saturday night.
Attendees had paid over $200 to see Shaggy out his biggest hits at Riverstage that evening, before it was announced Shaggy, who was the evening’s headline act, would not perform.
With curfew at 10pm, the second last act took the stage at 9.20pm, leaving no time for the headliner, with concert officials announcing to the angry audience that Shaggy’s set was cancelled as they’d ‘run out of time’ while booing erupted.
Many shared their anger online, with several disappointed fans voicing their thoughts on Reddit.
‘Anyone else at Jammin festival tonight? Riverstage. Shaggy was headliner but they seemed to be very slow at changing the stage between acts. The second last act came on over an hour late. Complained her set was cut short and then the MC announced they were over council time limit so Shaggy wouldn’t play’ asked a fan.

‘My mate went all day yesterday and last night, was waiting for Shaggy to come on. Lots of very angry people. Have we heard the official excuse for Shaggy not turning up yet? Some say he wasn’t even in Brisbane’ on person commented.
‘Total ripoff – can’t blame venue – blame organisers – should have known when they charged he VIP cost for GA tickets and all Ticketmaster said if that organisers reserve the right to change cost due to demand – and then no Shaggy’ another wrote.
‘Confusing to know the truth but lots of disappointed concert goers’ said someone else.
‘If Shaggy was advertised as the headliner and didn’t play you should be asking for a refund’ yet another chimed in.

‘RnB/Hip Hop promoters are some of the worst in the country and couldn’t put on a good event if their life depended on it’ complained one more.
Shaggy, 55, has been busy performing around the world since exploding on the music scene with the 2000 hit ‘It Wasn’t Me.’
He reflected on his 30-year career and called it a ‘blessing’ to still be doing what he loves.
‘Listen, if you could have a career like mine, then to me you’ve made it,’ Shaggy said.
‘To still be doing this over 30 years, it is a force to be reckoned with and to still be relevant in the game, especially in my genre, is a blessing.’
