Resigned Seven star Liz Cantor has confirmed a huge ‘plot twist’ in her big move from the channel to its rival Network 10.
The veteran weather presenter, 41, confirmed on Wednesday that she is quitting 7News after 17 years with the embattled channel and is moving to Network 10.
However, she has now made the surprising announcement that she is not leaving Seven all together, but will be staying on to host her two popular lifestyle shows.
Taking to Instagram to reply to a fan asking if she will be saying a ‘full goodbye’ to Seven, she clarified that she will be continuing her roles on both Creek to Coast and Weekender.
She detailed the unusual arrangement between rivals Seven and Network 10 and described it as a ‘bold move’ in free-to-air television as presenters usually work exclusively with just one channel.
‘This has been my most asked DM and a question in a lot of comments, so let me clear up any confusion, let me tell you the plot twist,’ she began.
‘In some forward thinking from Seven and Ten I am staying on at Creek to Coast and Weekender while presenting 10 News weather. Jobs I truly believe lend to each other…’
She also praised her bosses at both Seven and Ten for seeing the situation ‘the same way’ as herself as she detailed the milestone change.

TV presenter Liz Cantor has made the shock announcement that she will be staying on at the Seven network while taking up a new role at Channel 10

Taking to Instagram to reply to a fan asking if she will be saying a ‘full goodbye’ to Seven, she clarified that she will be continuing her roles on both Creek to Coast and Weekender
‘I can’t thank them enough for this bold move in free to air telly,’ she continued.
‘In all honesty after 18-years with Creek to Coast, I wouldn’t have left the show, I believe in it too much.
‘And along with the Weekender, they’re just getting bigger, better and stronger every year and the ratings reflect this and we say thank you to you.
She signed off the post with a nod to her new Ten job, adding: ‘Ya’ll know that I’m also a weather nerd, so this offer from Ten is a dream and I am so excited to be a part of this bulletin’s return.’
Her latest post comes just hours after Cantor revealed the truth behind the ‘I was a seven, now I’m a ten’ dig that went viral after her resignation statement.
Amid her move from her role as the 7News weather presenter to anchor 10 News First’s Queensland bulletin, she was reported to have said ‘I was a seven, now I’m a ten’ in a savage swipe, but she has now clarified the remark.
She took to Instagram on Thursday to insist the famous quip hadn’t actually come from her, but said she was still happy to ‘own it’ as she made light of the situation.
She confirmed to Daily Mail Australia that the comment actually came from a ‘clever Seven colleague’, after her ex-co-workers had quipped she had ‘always been a 10’ on social media.

Setting the record straight on the dig, the presenter added on social media: ‘OK so the ”I was a seven, now I’m a ten” wasn’t technically my line, but I’m happy to own it [crying laughing emoji].’
In another post, she said she was ‘happy to have a laugh’ about it and shared her excitement about joining the Channel Ten team with axed Seven presenter Sharyn Ghidella.
After her original post confirming her resignation, her friends at Channel Seven gushed that she had ‘always been a 10’ in cheeky comments referencing her move.
Queensland newsreader Samantha Heathwood commented on her post: ‘Amazing!! You’ve always been a 10 but now it’s official,’ prompting Liz to reply: ‘Haha! Thanks so much Sam.’
While reporter Amanda Abate added on her own Stories: ‘Gosh I’ll miss working with this one… Our ray of sunshine. Always was a 10, but yeah, now it’s official. Love ya.’
Cantor is set to take up her new role at Network 10 in a matter of days as she will anchor the 10 News First Queensland bulletin live from Brisbane from Monday.
She will be helming the program alongside another former Seven reporter, Sharyn Ghidella, who was axed from the network last month amid a string of media job cuts.
On Wednesday, Cantor said in a statement: ‘I feel honoured to be part of a return of local news to Queensland. I am really excited to take weather out into our community, involving more people and showcasing great places.
‘I want 10 to be the home of ”the people’s weather” and I can’t wait for that interaction to begin.’

‘I began working with Sharyn Ghidella in 2007,’ she went on. ‘People know her as a calm, composed, intelligent news anchor – and she is all these things – but I also know her as someone witty and always encouraging and supportive to the females around her.
‘I’ve always called her the crown straightener… if it’s crooked, she won’t let you go without quietly straightening it for you! That’s the person she is.’
Cantor started her on screen career in 2002 as an actor in the Australian film Blurred, which she followed with another feature, Gettin’ Square in 2003.
She later scored a role in the TV drama Blue Water High in 2005 after winning the reality show The Mole.
Cantor, who was previously a professional surfer, joined Seven the same year and went on to remain with the Channel for 17 years.
