The 32-year-old Texas native sat down with Karol G on Complex‘s GOAT Talk, where they discussed all of their favorites.
Towards the end of the discussion, they were asked who their favorite rapper was, with the 34-year-old Colombia native (born Carolina Giraldo Navarro) revealing Eminem was her favorite growing up, and Nicki Minaj is her favorite now.
Gomez said Eminem was one of her favorite’s growing up, adding, ‘only because my dad was a DJ and he would remix all kinds of songs, and every time it was an Eminem song I would just get so excited.’
However, she went on to reveal that another rapper was in fact her first crush, at a very young age.

Who was young Selena’s first crush? It was none other than Ice Cube, before she even started kindergarten, for a surprising reason.
‘I tell you my first one that I had a crush on, Ice Cube,’ she said, which clearly stunned Karol G, who said, ‘My God! He’s amazing!’
‘I had the biggest crush on him when I was like five, it’s so weird but I just thought he would protect me,’ Gomez said of the rapper.
Gomez made headlines last week when it was revealed that she unfollowed her ex Justin Bieber’s wife Hailey, after reports surfaced that they have split.
Hailey unfollowed Gomez as well, ending what appears now to have been just a temporary truce following a long-rumored feud.
Bieber and Gomez dated on and off from December 2010 to March 2018, with Bieber almost immediately moving on with Hailey, announcing their engagement in July 2018.
They put rumors of a feud to rest in 2022 when they posed for a photo together, and started following each other on Instagram in 2023.
