Liam plunged 45ft from the third floor into the courtyard of the Casa Sur Hotel in Argentina’s capital on Wednesday, before medics confirmed his death aged just 31.
Scott said on his show on Tuesday: ‘He won’t mind me saying this, I was texting Geoff, Liam’s dad the other day when he was in Argentina and he said he has posted our tribute we did to Liam last week to the family WhatsApp group.’
‘He thought it was wonderful, especially all of the messages and comments you put underneath the video on the Radio 2 Instagram.’

Scott continued: ‘He just wanted me to thank you all for all the beautiful heartfelt messages that you have put on there. He’s read all of them.
‘And for him to reach out and say thank you like that during such a difficult time where him and all of Liam’s close ones will be hurting so much just shows you what I’ve known all along. .. What a kind family they are.
‘So, sending you all our love Geoff to you and the rest of the family. And to all his friends. We’re all still thinking of you.’
It determined that the singer died instantly from multiple injuries after falling 45ft from the third floor.
His father Geoff is said to have flown to the country to organise the repatriation of his son, the Associated Press has reported.
Mr Payne was seen visiting tributes laid out by fans outside the hotel, reading letters and pausing around flowers, photographs and candles.
The singer’s family paid tribute to Liam on Thursday. They said they were ‘heartbroken’ following his death, adding: ‘Liam will forever live in our hearts and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul.’
Liam had arrived in South America with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy on September 30, staying in Argentina for two weeks after only planning to spend ‘five days’ there.

Police were called to the hotel following reports of an ‘aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol’.
Shortly afterwards, workers heard a loud sound in the hotel’s courtyard before the Wolverhampton-born singer’s body was discovered just after 5pm local time.
Argentine police and prosecutors investigating the tragedy are treating it as an ‘inconclusive death’ – as they continue to hunt the drug dealer who supplied him that night.
Preliminary results from toxicology tests of Liam remains have found traces of cocaine, benzodiazepine, crack cocaine and ‘pink cocaine’ – which is a combination of methamphetamine, ketamine and MDMA.
While tests on the substances – white powder, traces of chemical crystals and prescription medicines – found at his suite at the boutique hotel continue, results from a post mortem of his body have been completed.
