Scott Mills Loses £190,000 Panto Role After BBC Sacking

Scott Mills will not be returning to the stage this after stepping away from his popular panto role before the sacked him over a historical allegation of serious sexual offences. 

The former DJ, 53, became a popular panto fixture through his role as Mayor Mills in Jack And The Beanstalk, earning a reported £190,000 a year over a three year period while entertaining family audiences across the UK. 

But Mills' name will be missing from the cast sheet when it returns later this year, with production company Imagine Theatre having already made the decision to overlook the under-fire star. 

'There were no plans to work with him this year,' a source told The Sun. 'This decision was taken prior to this news.' 

It is the latest career blow for the former BBC favourite, who has also been dropped from his planned set at Ibiza Symphonica following a historical allegation of serious sexual offences.

A second industry source added: 'The panto world is really small, and everyone knows everyone. As soon as the news broke about Scott, it was all anyone was talking about, especially given he’s been so popular since his debut in 2023.

'Scott is really close with the team at Imagine and was already in talks about taking a break, despite openly telling people about how much he loves the silliness of pantomime.

'Normally he would have been courted by other production companies but in light of developments, no one wants to go near him.'

Last month, it was announced that Mills who was sacked by the broadcaster following a probe into his personal conduct, was due to perform a DJ set at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate on August 15.

However, following his shock sacking from the BBC, which came seven years after he was investigated by police over alleged sex offences with a boy aged under 16 with the case later closed, event organisers have made the decision to remove him from the official line-up, and discussions have begun to find a replacement. 

They have also hit out at Mills' management team for their 'lack of communication' since his BBC scandal came to light.

An official statement reads: 'We have carefully considered the serious nature of matters in the public domain concerning Scott Mills and have .'

Event organisers exclusively told the Daily Mail: 'Ibiza Symphonica is a celebration, which directly supports the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, a charity with an important role in supporting farming and rural Yorkshire.

'We have a duty to respect the event, the venue, the charity, and the other acts and partners involved, all of whom have managed to engage with us openly and professionally throughout. Most importantly, we have to make sure we deliver the best possible experience for our customers.

'We have tried at length to approach the decision with care, fairness, and sensitivity to everyone concerned.

'Taking everything into account, including the serious allegations in the public domain, the wider sentiment, the broader context in which other organisations were also having to consider their own positions, and the fact that we received no communication or response from management, to the point that we were left without confidence as to whether the booking was even still proceeding, we reached the stage where leaving matters unresolved was becoming more damaging than addressing them.
