‘I fell in love with Carl Dean when I was 18 years old. We have spent 60 precious and meaningful years together,’ Parton posted on Instagram in March.

Parton dedicated her new song If You Hadn’t Been There to Dean.

‘Like all great love stories, they never end. They live on in memory and song. He will always be the star of my life story.’

Several weeks after Dean’s death, Parton told Knox News, ‘I’m doing better than I thought I would. I’ve been with him 60 years. So, I’m going to have to relearn some of the things that we’ve done. But I’ll keep him always close.’

She also shared insight into the end of her famously reclusive husband’s life, revealing that he struggled leading up to his death.

‘He suffered a great deal,’ Dolly said. ‘I’m at peace that he’s at peace, but that don’t keep me from missing him and loving him.’

She went on to say, ‘It’s a hole in my heart, you know, but we’ll fill that up with good stuff and he’ll still always be with me.’

In late March, the country music icon took to Instagram to share her reaction to the tribute paid to her late spouse at this week’s Opry 100: A Live Celebration show.

During the show, stars including Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood, Lady A and about 50 members of the Opry’s choir performed Parton’s 1974 song I Will Always Love You.

‘Everybody here at the Opry and around the world wants to send you our thoughts and prayers,’ McEntire, 69, said to Dolly from the stage.

‘And you gotta know, we will always love you,’ she added.

Via Instagram Stories, Dolly wrote to her 7.5 million followers, ‘I have not stopped crying over the beautiful tribute of I Will Always Love You on the 100th Anniversary of the Grand Ole Opry show.’

She added, ‘All those beautiful people with all their beautiful voices singing my song as a tribute to my husband Carl… the emotion was beyond words.’

The legendary music artist continued, ‘I have cried enough to wash a great deal of the pain away so thanks to all of you beautiful people that helped make that possible.’

She finished the note, ‘I also will always love you,’ and signed off, ‘Dolly.’

Parton was just 18-years-old when she first crossed paths with Carl in 1964 at Nashville’s Wishy Washy Laundromat. They married two years later.

Dolly’s Broadway-bound musical about her life, Dolly: An Original Musical, begins previews on July 18 for a limited August 8-17 run at Belmont University’s Fisher Center for the Performing Arts in Nashville.

Parton is not only producing the show — which is being helmed by Tony-winning director Bartlett Sher — she also co-wrote the corresponding book with two-time Emmy-winning producer Maria S. Schlatter, and penned ‘many original songs’ and ‘included all your favorites’ too.

Dolly was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022, the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999, and the Grand Ole Opry in 1969.

Savannah Guthrie reveals rocky start to love story with Michael Feldman that involved a breakup and tears

Savannah Guthrie has revealed that she had a very rocky start with her husband Michael Feldman.

During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Wednesday, the 53-year-old TODAY Show star said that she broke up with Michael before he proposed.

The TV star had waited five-and-a-half years for him to pop the question and she was frustrated it was not happening. Guthrie did not want to wait another day.

So while on vacation in the Turks and Caicos, she told Michael she was done which led to heartbreak and tears.

Little did she know, Feldman had an engagement ring in his pocket that he was ready to propose with. Later in the day, he ended up getting on one knee and asking her for her hand in marriage, which gave her the shock of her life.

The couple ultimately exchanged vows just outside of Guthrie’s hometown of Tucson, Arizona in March 2014, a year after their engagement.

Five months after saying ‘I do’, the pair welcomed their first child together, daughter Vale Guthrie Feldman, on August 13. And two years later on December 8, 2016, the host gave birth to their son, Charles Max.

She relayed the story to Kelly, adding plenty of details.

‘I did break up with him the day we got engaged,’ she admitted to Clarkson.

The Australian-American journalist met the former Democratic political adviser at his 40th birthday party which she ‘crashed’, attending as her gal pal’s plus one. She and Feldman hit it off and they began dating after he sent her an email ‘a few days later.’

Sharing that marriage had long been on her mind with the now 56-year-old, she said ‘we had at that point been dating for five and a half years and again,’ she added – stressing their ages as a motive to fast-track marriage – before she said, ‘We weren’t 20 when we got married.’

Guthrie also shared that at the time, her own mother told her they ‘need to [get married] or don’t. Like just do something.’

‘I kind of thought, sometimes … when you haven’t decided you’ve decided,’ she told Clarkson.

Recalling the day, Guthrie shared that she and Feldman followed through with a planned trip to Turks and Caicos and were out casually enjoying the breezy beach and clear skies.

‘I certainly did not think we were getting engaged,’ she recalled. ‘When you’ve been dating for 5 and a half years, you no longer think a trip to the beach is the day. Like, you’re not getting your nails done.’

At that moment, she recalled breaking up with him, since she assumed there was no path forward in solidifying their relationship under the law.

‘Well, honey, you know we love each other… but this had been going on too long, so I think lets just say goodbye. Lets just let each other go,’ she told the communications consultant when by the sea.

He instead urged them to ‘go enjoy the day’, which Guthrie recalled feeling ‘weepy’ for the entirety of it as she questioned her decision — until everything changed for the better.

She explained to Clarkson: ‘Little do I know, he has an engagement ring in his pocket.  So he has a choice at that point: forget it, nobody knew he hadn’t told a friend, didn’t tell his parents, nobody knew he was gonna propose.

‘So he could’ve easily just let the whole thing go, we break up, that’s the end of the story. But at sunset he said, “You know, [the resort] sent us this champagne lets go sit outside and have a drink.”‘

She also got candid about why she felt that they had to either tie to knot or go their separate ways

Feldman urged her to sit and at that moment he asked the TV star to marry him.

About Guthrie, her co-anchor of many years, she gushed: ‘Let me tell you something about her — she always shows up.

  • Marlo Thomas misses Thanksgiving TV special for first time in 21 years after death of her husband Phil Donahue

Marlo Thomas misses Thanksgiving TV special for first time in 21 years after death of her husband Phil Donahue

Marlo Thomas missed the Today Show St Jude’s special for the first time in 21 years on Monday as she continues to mourn the death of her husband Phil Donahue.

Donahue died aged 88 in August – he and the Friends actress, 87, were married for 44 years.

Thomas, who is the national outreach director at the children’s research hospital St. Jude which her father Danny Thomas, founded in 1962, was absent from the annual Today Show segment to begin the hospital’s Thanks & Giving series.

Her brother Tony Thomas took her place on the show with Savannah Guthrie saying: ‘For the first time in the 21 years of our series, Marlo is not with us this morning. She’s taking some time off after the loss of her beloved husband, Phil Donahue.’

Tony said: ‘She loved her guy, that was a 44-year marriage that was a true love affair.

‘Everybody that called me said, ‘I can’t believe their marriage was such a love affair and the chemistry.’ It was… they were very, very close and I believe it’s going [to be] awhile before she can handle this.’

He added that Thomas  ‘will be back next year’ for the fundraising campaign.

Guthrie told Tony to ‘give [Marlo] our love, absolutely. We know that she will be very proud that you’re here talking about the work of St. Jude, which means so much to her and to you’… ‘If Marlo’s watching, we love you.’

The host of The Phil Donahue Show passed away surrounded by relatives, including his actress wife, at his home.

She wrote on Instagram, along with a sweet photo of the pair riding a motorbike together on vacation: ‘I’m sure by now you’ve heard the very sad news that I lost my sweetheart last night.

‘I know you understand that I’ll be stepping away from this page for a while to take care of myself and the many people who took care of Phil, and held him close to their hearts.

‘But I didn’t want to disappear without saying thank you for the beautiful messages of love and support that have been coming in all day,’ the actress disclaimed.

‘[A]nd for the wonderful and generous way that you’ve let Phil and me share our life adventure with you over the years.’

She continued:  ‘As a man who spent his career loving his audiences, Phil got such a kick out of our cozy little community [on social media], and I know he would be very touched by the heartwarming thoughts and memories you’ve been sharing.

‘Until I return, I wish you good health and happy days in the company of family and friends, and I hope that you will continue to hold close those you cherish most, just as I was blessed to do with my beloved Phillip,’ Donahue’s second wife said.

‘Love, Marlo,’ she went on to sign, while sharing a vintage photo of the pair on a European holiday.

‘P.S. This is one of my favorite photos of Phil and me,’ she wrote. ‘[T]aken on vacation.’

The pair actually met on the set of his program back in 1977 – with Donahue the host and Thomas his guest.

The two would go on to wed just three years later, following ‘instant chemistry’ felt by Thomas with the TV talker, she revealed in a 2015 post to Gacebook.

‘Phil and I met on his talk show, ‘Donahue,’ in 1977,’ Thomas, who continues to act and produce to this day, wrote at the time.

‘I just want to say that we will spend a week celebrating you. As you mentioned, we have a lot to celebrate,’ mother-of-two Savannah said.

‘Though you are irreplaceable, we are so excited about the news in our Today family and that is the person sitting right next to me, our dear friend and talented, wonderful, hard-working, most worthy of this, Craig Melvin is the new anchor of the Today show,’ she continued.

‘And I talked to mom and dad yesterday. I’m thankful that they’re still young enough and healthy enough to be able to see this and enjoy the fruits of their labor, and you all know my back story.

‘My mother’s mother was an elementary school custodian, and my father’s mother had to take care of five kids, so she ran numbers and ran liquor for a long time and ended up in prison. My dad was born in prison. He overcame addictions in his life.’

  • Matthew Perry’s Mother Predicted His Death Just Before Fatal Overdose

Matthew Perry’s Mother Predicted His Death Just Before Fatal Overdose

Matthew Perry’s mom has revealed she had a ‘premonition’ he would die just before his shock passing from a drug overdose aged 54 last year.

The Friends actor died from a ketamine overdose and drowning on October 28, 2023 at his Pacific Palisades home.

Perry’s mom Suzanne Morrison and stepfather Keith Morrison have now opened up about the actor’s final days in a Today Show special with Savannah Guthrie – which will air on Monday, October 28 to mark the one year anniversary of his death.

In a teaser clip shown Friday, Suzanne, 81, said Perry showed her ‘one of his new houses’ before saying: ‘He came up to me and said, “I love you so much and I’m so happy to be with you now”.

‘It was almost as though it was a premonition of something. I didn’t think about it at the time but I thought, How long has it been since we’ve had a conversation like that. It’s been years.’

‘I think there was something… there was an inevitability to what was going to happen next to him, and he felt it very strongly. But he said, “I’m not frightened anymore.” And it worried me.

Chandler Bing star Perry’s manner of death was ruled to be accidental, and the autopsy report released in May showed the actor died from acute effects of ketamine.

Contributing factors were given as drowning, coronary artery disease and the effects of buprenorphine, a prescription drug often used to treat those with opioid addiction.

It was later reported that at the time of his death, Perry was undergoing ketamine infusion therapy.

In December last year, a medical expert speculated to Page Six the actor had ‘likely’ obtained ketamine illegally for ‘recreational use,’ however.

Even though Perry was undergoing ketamine treatment for anxiety and depression at the time of his passing, his autopsy report noted ‘the ketamine in his system at death could not be from that infusion therapy.’ When the Friends star died the LAPD began an investigation into the circumstances of his overdose.

The interview comes only weeks after a California doctor entered a guilty plea for his role in Perry’s fatal overdose.

Mark Chaves arrived at an LA court on October 2 where he formally pleaded guilty to illegally distributing ketamine. The judge accepted the plea.

He faces up to 10 years in prison, even with a plea deal. He will be sentenced on April 2, 2025.

Prior to the court hearing, Chaves agreed to stop practicing medicine, and handed his passport to authorities.

It’s understood Chavez sold ketamine lozenges to Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who is accused of then providing them to Perry.

Plasencia is facing separate charges, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Plasencia is accused of texting Chavez ‘I wonder how much this moron will pay’ when he learned Perry was seeking ketamine.

His lawyer Matthew Binninger said after Chavez’s first court appearance on Aug. 30 that he is ‘incredibly remorseful’ and is ‘trying to do everything in his power to right the wrong that happened here.’

Savannah Guthrie hints at exit from Today show

Savannah Guthrie has hinted that her tenure on the Today show may be coming to an end following Hoda Kotb’s announcement of her exit from the morning program.

While discussing Hoda’s departure at the Project Healthy Minds’ World Mental Health Day Gala on Thursday, Savannah remarked to US Weekly, ‘We’re dear friends and we have a lot of similarities.’

She added, ‘We’re basically in the same phase of life,’ which many interpreted as a subtle reference to her own potential exit.

This speculation arises after Hoda stunned viewers with her surprise announcement in September, stating that turning 60 had been a ‘monumental moment’ that prompted her to ‘try something new’ after 17 years leading the flagship show.

Additionally, sources have informed DailyMail.com that Today producers are actively trying to persuade Savannah to stay, as they wish to avoid ‘overhauling everything’ during this period of transition.

‘Savannah’s contract is coming up next year and they want to keep her and will be doing anything they can to continue their relationship with Savannah as a means of not overhauling everything,’ the source explained.

‘The replacement will be from people who are already there rather than paying an outsider tons of money to sit with Savannah.’

Savannah reportedly signed a $7million a-year contract with Today which was increased to $8million and then again to an undisclosed amount in 2020 after bosses were impressed with her moderating of a town hall with President Trump.

Hoda – who reportedly earns an estimated $8 million a-year on the show – not only serves as one of the main anchors alongside Savannah, but she also cohosts her own segment with Jenna Bush Hager, called Today with Hoda and Jenna.

The insider noted that the final decision about replacements will ultimately be up to the viewing public, depending on which presenter the audience is more drawn towards.

‘Craig Melvin and Laura Jarrett are both on top of the list to be the heir apparent at this time,’ the source continued.

‘NBC is looking to place one of them in Hoda’s position, whomever the audience gravitates to more will be the most likely replacement.

‘The anchors would all love the opportunity to take Hoda’s spot, Sheinelle Jones would be interested, but honestly everyone is championing for Laura or Craig.’

'We're basically in the same phase of life,' which many interpreted as a subtle reference to her own potential exit

The insider added that bosses are willing to wait as long as it takes to make an official announcement and added that Hoda’s replacement on Today with Hoda and Jenna is more open.

‘There is more leeway with Jenna and who will join her after Hoda leaves,’ she said.

‘It could be a revolving door until someone sticks, the job to join Jenna is going to be a work in progress and could be anyone at this point.’

Craig, 45, first joined MSNBC as a daytime anchor in 2011, and within his first year he covered a slew of events including the Republican and Democratic national conventions and election night.

He began cohosting Today’s Third Hour in 2018, and soon after news hit that Hoda was leaving, fans were calling for him to replace her.

Before her job at Today, Laura, 40 – the daughter of former Obama administration official Valerie Jarrett – worked at CNN, where she cohosted the show Early Start, which has since been renamed, CNN This Morning.

She joined NBC in 2022 and is best known for breaking the news about former President Donald Trump’s guilty falsifying business records verdict back in May.

Hoda was motivated to stand down by her two young daughters, but her struggle to find the same chemistry with Jenna as she had with former cohost Kathie Lee Gifford, 71, was also a driving factor.

The TV icon also wrote a letter explaining her ‘painful’ decision to her colleagues, explaining further that marking her 60th birthday sparked a seismic ‘shift’ in her life.

‘As I write this, my heart is all over the map,’ Hoda said. ‘I know I’m making the right decision, but it’s a painful one. And you all are the reason why. ‘My time at NBC has been the longest professional love affair of my life. But only because you’ve been beside me on this twenty-six-year adventure. Looking back, the math is nuts. 26 years at NBC News – Ten years at Dateline, seven on the seven o’clock hour, sixteen on the ten o’clock hour.’

She continued: ‘I’m picturing your faces and your families and all the ways you’ve lifted me up and inspired me. That’s my heart singing. So many of my professional relationships have become some of my most cherished friendships.’

HODA KOTB’S FULL STATEMENT AS SHE QUIT TODAY SHOW

    To my TODAY family,

As I write this, my heart is all over the map. I know I’m making the right decision, but it’s a painful one. And you all are the reason why. They say two things can be right at the same time, and I’m feeling that so deeply right now. I love you and it’s time for me to leave the show.

My time at NBC has been the longest professional love affair of my life. But only because you’ve been beside me on this twenty-six-year adventure. Looking back, the math is nuts. 26 years at NBC News – Ten years at Dateline, seven on the seven o’clock hour, sixteen on the ten o’clock hour. I’m picturing your faces and your families and all the ways you’ve lifted me up and inspired me. That’s my heart singing. So many of my professional relationships have become some of my most cherished friendships. Savannah: my rock. Jenna: my ride-or-die. Al: my longest friend at 30 Rock. Craig, Carson, Sheinelle and Dylan: my family. Libby, Mazz and Talia: my fearless leaders. I will miss each and every one of you at TODAY desperately.

I’ve been weighing this decision for quite a while – Am I truly ready? But, my sixtieth birthday celebration on the Plaza felt like a shift. Like a massive, joyful YES, you are! I saw it all so clearly: my broadcast career has been beyond meaningful, a new decade of my life lies ahead, and now my daughters and my mom need and deserve a bigger slice of my time pie. I will miss you all desperately, but I’m ready and excited.

Because I’ll be working through the beginning of 2025, there’s plenty of time to talk about what’s ahead for all of us. But one thing I know for sure right now is this: everything’s going to be just fine. The Peacock’s feathers are never ruffled… no matter who comes or goes. TODAY and its amazing people — all of you — never waver. You always weather change with grace and guts.

Happily and gratefully, I plan to remain a part of the NBC family, the longest work relationship I’ve been lucky enough to hold close to my heart. I’ll be around. How could I not? Family is family and you all will always be a part of mine.

    Love,

    Hoda

Hoda Kotb has revealed her tips for the lucky reporter who fills her seat on the Today show following her upcoming departure.

Kotb, 60, will be exiting the show following 26 years with NBC News next year and announced her exit live on-air last month.

During an interview with People, she advised whoever ends up replacing her be ‘1000%’ themselves on-air.

Kotb, who co-hosts the fourth hour with Jenna Bush Hager and co-anchors Today with Savannah Guthrie, also recommended her future replacement give their colleague the opportunity to ‘shine.’

‘Whoever’s interested in that seat, and it’s maybe the best seat in television, I think the best advice I have is to be 1,000% who you are, because that’s really the key,’ she said.

‘And the other thing, too, is sometimes to me, part of the magic is to be able to delight in the person sitting next to you. It’s such a small thing, but sometimes when you’re with someone, if you just let them shine. Give everyone a second, because who wants to be the person at the cocktail party who’s talking all the time?’

Kotb announced last month that she will be leaving Today early next year.

The long-time anchor, who first joined Dateline NBC in 1998 before ultimately landing her current role as co-anchor, shared the surprising update in a heartfelt message to her ‘Today family’ live on air.

Hoda, who has been part of NBC News for 26 years, was immediately moved to tears as she explained to her fellow co-hosts turning 60 had been a ‘monumental moment’ that made her decide it was time to ‘try something new’.

    • Have YOU got a story? Email tips@dailymail.com

All Savannah Guthrie wanted for Christmas was her two front teeth — or at least a molar —  after losing one at her holiday party.

The 52-year-old TV host revealed she lost a tooth while celebrating at the Today show’s Christmas party during her appearance on Tuesday’s Watch What Happens Live.

‘It did happen,’ Guthrie replied after a caller inquired about the incident. ‘That was the Christmas party, which when you’re at the Today show Christmas party, it starts at, like, 3 p.m. A lot of day drinking,’

She and co-guest Hoda Kotb then reminisced about being among the last ones standing, along with their colleagues Sheinelle Jones, Dylan Dreyer, Jenna Bush Hager, and Laura Jarrett.

‘Anyway, we all left and the next thing I know, the morning I wake up, I’m like, “I feel like something’s missing,”‘ she recalled. ‘It was a molar and I was like, “Where is it?” And they were like, “Maybe it’s at the Pebble Bar.” It was gone.’

Since it happened around the holidays, Guthrie admitted that she ‘let it go for weeks,’ while Kotb insisted it was ‘longer than weeks.’

‘I was like, “Go to the dentist!”‘ Kotb added.

Guthrie contended that ‘you couldn’t see it’ since it was a molar.

On last night’s episode, host Andy Cohen also disclosed that Carson Daly, from Today, ‘refuses’  to make an appearance on Watch What Happens Live.

‘We’ve asked so many times. I’ve talked to him about it. He’s just like — he’s scared,’ Cohen added.

‘He thinks I’m gonna dredge up all the mess. But I don’t think there’s any mess to dredge.’

Bravo host Andy Cohen has admitted that he worries about getting ‘canceled’ one day because he thinks we live in a society that ‘wants to be outraged about everything.’

During an appearance on Today on Monday morning, the 56-year-old TV star told Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie that he enjoys the ‘danger’ of being a controversial figure and described it as ‘fun.’

The conversation came about when dad-of-two Andy revealed that Carson Daly is the only member of the Today family who hasn’t appeared on his popular talk show Watch What Happens Live!

Explaining why he’s not keen on being a guest on Andy’s show, Carson, 51, said: ‘I’ve done a good job of not getting canceled yet, I’m not starting… too many stories!’ which led Hoda, 59, to say to Andy: ‘Let’s talk about that for a little bit. We have all said things that are controversial. Do you worry about getting canceled?’

Andy replied immediately: ‘Me? Yes. Yes, I do! I have a live microphone on me so much. I’m going from here to the radio, in the middle of the night sometimes [and] I’m like, “did I put that into context?”‘

He continued: ‘Everything is always so much worse in print than it is when you hear the context. We live in a society that is wanting to be outraged about everything. But New York magazine called me the most, I think, dangerous man or irresponsible or something, and that’s amazing, good, that’s great.’

When Savannah, 52, asked Andy if he likes the ‘danger’, he responded: ‘Yes, I like it! It’s fun, I like pushing the envelope!’ as the mom-of-two revealed she doesn’t like it.

When Hoda asked Andy why he thinks celebrities enjoy appearing on his show, he said: ‘I don’t totally know. I think they know if they come, maybe they’ll make a little news and they’re promoting something.

‘But also it is fun, it’s a little dangerous, and maybe the same reason people do Howard Stern, they know they’re gonna leave having a great interview and having had a lot of fun.

‘And I think there’s something, in the age that we’re in now, the authenticity of the show I think is the thing that keeps people coming back,’ Andy added.

When Savannah asked him if ‘inhibitions diminish’ because the show is filmed late at night, Andy replied: ‘I think so. We serve people, we let them tipple a little bit,’ referring to alcoholic beverages.

Speaking about his guests, Andy then said: ‘Listen, I want everyone to leave happy, okay? That has happened 95 percent of the time, 2,700 episodes. But I have a sense of where I can go and where I can’t and I will always try.’

Andy’s comments come after he claimed that ‘outrage culture’ has changed the Real Housewives culture in recent years.

The Bravo boss — who has been named in a bombshell lawsuit against the network by RHONY alum Leah McSweeney  — said that since launching the franchise over 15 years ago, the creators have had to swiftly adapt to the evolving cultural landscape.

‘Producing a show about politically incorrect women in 2024 is different than producing a show about politically incorrect women in 2009,’ Andy told The Hollywood Reporter in May.

‘We are living in an outrage culture now, and everyone has had to adapt to that,’ he continued.

Andy added that viewers’ ‘sensitivity’ has grown more acute, attributing this shift to the pervasive influence of social media.

‘Sensitivities have changed over the years. Social media has a huge impact. There’s not a lot of room for nuance these days,’ he claimed.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, 63, criticizes ‘older men’ and Jerry Seinfeld for ‘red flag’ comments

Julia Louis-Dreyfus appeared to make somewhat of a dig at ‘older men’ on Monday morning – just one day after criticizing former costar Jerry Seinfeld for his ‘red flag’ comments about ‘political correctness.’

During an appearance on Today, Julie, 63, was speaking to hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie about her award-winning podcast, Wiser Than Me, and was asked how she knew there was ‘such a gap’ in the market for older women.

‘Well, because I watched that Jane Fonda documentary that came out a few years ago, and I was struck by the profundity and the scope of her life and there is so much that she’s done, and then I thought, we don’t really hear from older women and the experiences that they have.’

Julia then said rather sarcastically: ‘We certainly hear a lot from older men,’ as Hoda and Savannah giggled. ‘But we don’t hear from older women. Older women are sort of are less visible and that’s a huge resource that is left untapped, and I was thinking, “God, I wish there was like a podcast or someplace I could go to hear conversations.”

‘And I thought, “well there isn’t one, I guess I’ll have to do it,”‘ Julia added, before admitting that she has never felt like she was becoming invisible but is ‘aware of the fact that it happens.’

‘And particularly women who are older than all of us. And then all of a sudden, you think, “oh wait, we haven’t heard from… in so many years. Why is that?’ Julia commented as Hoda, 59, nodded in agreement.

Julia’s comment comes after she pushed back against 70-year-old Jerry’s recent complaint about how politically correct comedy has gotten in more recent years, compliments of the extreme left.

During an interview with the New York Times, the actress argued against her former Seinfeld co-star’s belief that ‘the extreme left and PC crap’ is ruining comedy on television, adding that political correctness can actually be ‘fantastic.’

‘When I hear people starting to complain about political correctness — and I understand why people might push back on it — but to me that’s a red flag, because it sometimes means something else,’ Julia told the publication. ‘I believe being aware of certain sensitivities is not a bad thing. I don’t know how else to say it.’

The mother-of-two knows a thing or two about comedic TV, considering she has won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series seven times: once for The New Adventures Of Old Christine (2006-2010) and six more playing Selina Meyer in Veep (2012-2019).

On top of that, she won the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series for Seinfeld (1989-1998) during her nine-season run on the legendary sitcom that starred Jerry Seinfeld in the lead role.

Seinfeld vented about the lack of comedies on television due to people worrying so much about offending others in an interview with The New Yorker in late April.

‘It used to be, you would go home at the end of the day, most people would go, “Oh, Cheers is on. Oh, M*A*S*H is on. Oh, Mary Tyler Moore is on. All in the Family is on.” You just expected, there’ll be some funny stuff we can watch on TV tonight,’ he told the publication.

‘Well, guess what — where is it? This is the result of the extreme left and PC crap, and people worrying so much about offending other people.’

Sharing her own views, the acclaimed actress said: ‘My feeling about all of it is that political correctness, insofar as it equates to tolerance, is obviously fantastic.

‘And of course I reserve the right to boo anyone who says anything that offends me, while also respecting their right to free speech, right?’

The New York City native admitted that certain comedies and dramas from yesteryear just don’t work anymore under modern scrutiny, but being sensitively aware of changing cultural norms should be acknowledged.

When asked directly about Jerry’s comments on political correctness, Julia made reference to how comedy has evolved over the decades.

‘If you look back on comedy and drama both, let’s say 30 years ago, through the lens of today, you might find bits and pieces that don’t age well,’ she said. ‘And I think to have an antenna about sensitivities is not a bad thing.’

The former Saturday Night Live cast member added: ‘It doesn’t mean that all comedy goes out the window as a result.’

  • Chip and Joanna Gaines joke about looking ‘200 years old’ as they reminisce on their first Fixer Upper casting tape

Chip and Joanna Gaines joke about looking ‘200 years old’ as they reminisce on their first Fixer Upper casting tape

It’s been 10 years since Chip and Joanna Gaines burst onto screens with their breakout HGTV home renovation show Fixer Upper – and now they’re looking back at their first moments on TV and reflecting on just how much they’ve changed in the past decade.

Appearing on the Today show on Wednesday to promote their new HGTV series, Fixer Upper: the Lakehouse, Chip, 49 and Joanna, 46, jokingly acknowledged they’ve aged just a bit in the 10 years they have spent on-screen.

Looking back on old footage from their first casting tape in 2012, as well as snapshots of their first episodes on air, Chip joked that he’s got some similarities to how presidents look at the end of a term – at least in terms of how he’s aged.

‘I feel like it’s one of these presidential scenarios where you know, these guys go into office and then four years later look like they’re 200 years old,’ Chip said to hosts hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie, as old footage played on the screen.

‘We look like babies,’ he continued in disbelief, as he and Joanna laughed.

Chip added: ‘Wow 10 years, it certainly has created quite the evolution on my face.’

The couple, who have been married for 21 years, share five children: Drake, 19, Ella, 17, Duke, 16, Emmie, 14, and Crew, five.

Speaking to Hoda and Samantha, the couple shared what it has been like raising a family in the public eye, how they are dealing with their children getting older and how they keep their person lives as ‘normal’ as possible.

‘For us the kids, family – that’s what grounds us the most,’ Joanna shared, adding that even ‘before’ the cameras, they always ‘moved’ together.

Joanna went on the say that when Fixer Upper started, they made sure the kids were always with them.

‘We always [made sure] to bring them in on the journey, no matter what it looks like – but knowing they are the most important thing,’ she shared.

The hosts praised the couple for their ability to ‘hit pause’ and ‘step back’ when it comes to their public appearances and spend time with their kids.

Then couple also shared insight into why it was so important to take time out for family time.

Chip likened it to running a marathon, pointing out it’s important to take breaks in between races.

According to Joanna, the Gaines’ breaks range from a weekend of ‘doing nothing’ to saying no to other jobs when they’re still working on a project.

The Today hosts commented on the couple’s individual evolution, nothing that Joanna was shy when she first started our on TV and making appearances on TV.

‘She and I have passed like ships in the night,’ Chip joked, saying he has gotten quieter as the years have gone on.

‘She’s become this extravert that wants to go to parties and hang out with friends [whereas] I’m like “oh not tonight, lets take it easy,”‘ he continued.

‘Before,’ Chip continued. ‘It was the exactly opposite.’

The couple have built up a loyal following since launching to stardom in the first season of their HGTV series, Fixer Upper, in 2013.

However, some fans slammed the couple over accusations that they are flaunting their wealth in the newest installment of their hit show, Fixer Upper: the Lakehouse.

After watching the sneak peek of their latest fixer upper project, uploaded to Magnolia Network’s Instagram, a number of fans began commenting that the couple seemed to be ‘showing off.’

During the trailer, the duo noted that the renovation project falls on the 10-year anniversary of their hit series debuting on HGTV.

‘I think with this lake house, there’s something about it that just feels significant that this project landed on our ten year Fixer anniversary,’ Joanna said in the beginning of the trailer. So it kind of feels like…’

Chip, then interjects: ‘It was really meant to be.’

In a press release for their upcoming six-episode series, which will air on Magnolia Network and HGTV, the couple admitted that they ‘couldn’t have imagined the journey we had ahead’ of them.

‘Though a lot has changed and evolved in the decade between then and now, our love for home is still at the heart of everything we do,’ they said in a statement, which was obtained by ABC News.

‘We always wait for Taylor to tell us what the child’s name is,’ Ryan, 47, joked on Today, adding, ‘And I will say this: We’re still waiting.’

‘She’s a prolific writer — I mean, what are we doing here? And “lazy” is not a word I’d attach to Taylor,’ he humorously added.

Swift previously confirmed Blake and Ryan had allowed her to reveal their name of their third child in her 2020 track Betty.

The couple welcomed their third child, daughter Betty, in 2019.

‘I named all the characters in this story after my friend’s kids, and I hope you like it!’ she said at the time, after fans first noticed she used the monikers of the beloved Hollywood couple’s eldest daughters, James and Inez.

Reynolds and Lively welcomed baby number four in February 2023.

At the time, a source told US Weekly: ‘Blake and Ryan knew this would be quite a transition growing their family to six now, but they’re all adjusting wonderfully. It’s a very happy time for all of them.’

Later that year, Reynolds told Extra that he was absolutely ‘thrilled’ and ‘couldn’t be happier.’

Additionally, he told ET Canada that ‘three to four’ was less of a jump than going from two to three children.

‘I cannot speak for my wife, but it’s just from what I’ve observed. But, we love it. You know, we would be idiots to do this again if we didn’t love it,’ he gushed

Chris Pine has recycled the I Love LA T-shirt he wore at his Poolman Los Angeles premiere last week.

His Poolman character Darren Barrenman also dons the shirt in the movie.

The 43-year-old star had on the top when he stepped out on Wednesday to promote the film in New York City.

Pine layered the top under a sherbet plaid blazer – which he also had on in the movie and at the premiere –  with a matching pocket square as he appeared on the Today show.

‘This is Darren Barrenman dressy,’ he told host Savannah Guthrie. ‘This is actually the blazer I wear in the film.’

Dressing for the nippy NYC weather, Pine traded out the corduroy short shorts for a pair of bright orange slacks with matching woven leather shoes.

Pine added, ‘And I wear my favorite “I love LA” t-shirt in the film.’

‘The film I made is a joyful, silly, playful film, and it just didn’t seem to be the right vibe if I showed up trying to strike Zoolander poses on the carpet.

‘So, I decided to go full, all-in,’ added Pine of his eccentric press tour looks.

The Don’t Worry Darling actor finished the ensemble with a pair of gold-framed ombré lens sunglasses and a matching gold chain bracelet.

His current grey beard and mid combed-back hair appears to emulate Jeff Bridges, whom he honored on Monday at the 49th Chaplin Award Gala.

After starring alongside Bridges, 74, in 2016’s Hell or High Water, Pine appears to pay stylistic tribute to Bridges’ eponymous role in 1998’s The Big Lebowski with his latest project.

Making his feature directorial debut, Pine co-wrote and stars in Poolman as the titular Darren, a Los Angeles city council ‘gadfly’ who is approached to uncover a corrupt government deal.

The movie also stars Annette Bening, Danny DeVito, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Ariana DeBose and DeWanda Wise.

Pine previously gave some more insight into his style evolution.

‘I think there comes a certain wonderful point in your life where you don’t give as much of a FU anymore, and I think I probably hit that point,’ he told E! News at the premiere.

‘This whole film, what I love about what we did is it’s the joy of everything, of design, of clothes, of cinema, of film, of shooting on film, of characters and weird characters,’ added Pine. ‘So, I tried to throw all the joy I could into it.’

He also credited Italian businessman Lapo Elkann for inspiring him with his ‘insane style,’ as well as ‘early ’80s Harrison Ford’ and Tom Selleck.

‘The short shorts were definitely inspired by Tom Selleck, there’s no lie about that,’ added Pine.

Poolman premieres May 10 in theaters.

Jenna Bush Hager shares that her eight-year-old daughter Poppy had a brief fling with co-host Savannah Guthrie’s son Charley, age seven, and discusses their recent split

Jenna Bush Hager has revealed that her eight-year-old daughter Poppy enjoyed a ‘short romance’ with Savannah Guthrie’s seven-year-old son Charley, while sharing insight into the youngsters’ ‘break-up’.

Jenna, 42, is mom to Mila, 11, Poppy, and four-year-old son, while Savannah, 52, shares nine-year-old daughter Vale and son Charley with her husband Michael Feldman – and the two hosts have clearly socialized with one another’s families in the past.

During Thursday’s episode of Today with Hoda & Jenna, the latter confirmed that her middle child had a soft spot for Savannah’s only son as they discussed a viewer’s dilemma about whether or not she should get involved in her son’s break-up with her best friend’s daughter.

Both Hoda, 59, and Jenna were in agreement that the woman should stay well out of it, with Hoda using Poppy and Charley as an example when she said: ‘What if Charley, Savannah’s son, was dating Poppy…’ as Jenna butted in and replied: ‘They did have a little, short romance.’

Suggesting a potential future scenario, Hoda continued: ‘And they are grown now and then they have a huge fight and every night Poppy is crying to you, and you are going to have lunch with Savannah, it’s going to come up…’

Mother-of-three Jenna agreed that it would definitely come up and went on to divulge a bit more about the children’s relationship, but did not confirm when it happened.

‘I don’t think you can blame… I think teen romances break. It’s not Charley’s fault that he and Poppy broke up. They had a short romance, it was okay, but there was nobody involved,’ Jenna commented.

However, Hoda suggested that it was easier said than done and said: ‘If your heart is breaking because your daughter or your son has a broken heart, it’s hard, I get how you want to discuss it. It’s like, the center of my world’s heart is broken, I get it.’

Jenna then admitted: ‘I think staying out of our kids’ stuff is going to be the hardest thing we ever do,’ before referring to Mila and adding: ‘I am already feeling it with my 11-year-old.

‘You want to hear everything. And there is a weird thing that happens around middle school where it’s like I was her biggest confidant and all of a sudden, the things she used to tell me, she’s not really and I have to be okay with that.’

Jenna’s comments come after she revealed she was in an ‘absolute panic’ last weekend after she lost one of Poppy’s friends during recent birthday celebrations at the American Dream Mall in New Jersey.

Jenna and her husband Henry took 15 children to the huge mall to mark their eldest child Mila’s 11th birthday, but the fun day out took a ‘horrible’ turn when one of the kids went missing during their time at the water park.

‘Mila and her friends had a blast, and it was wonderful until we lost one child,’ Jenna admitted to Hoda, before explaining that she thought she would be able to handle taking such a large group of kids out for the day because she used to be a teacher.

‘I thought, “I was a teacher, I took 24 kids on a subway in Washington, D.C. by myself! I got this!” Well, turns out, I didn’t really have it,’ Jenna revealed. ‘When it’s your own children who don’t listen to you the way your students did!

‘And I said, “Please stay with your partner, that’s the number one rule, and the number two rule is be up here at 2:15.” Well, nobody showed up at 2:15 and I panicked, because the smallest among us, Poppy’s little friend, who’s the cutest, sweetest…

‘I wouldn’t choose which child to lose, but I would not want to lose her, okay! If I could save one child, she’s who… well, and my children, too… if this was the Titantic!’ Jenna continued as Hoda burst out laughing.

‘So what happened?’ Hoda asked, as Jenna replied: ‘She went missing,’ before adding: ‘How do you think I acted? Absolute panic. [I said] “Poppy, there was a buddy system for a reason! We never leave people behind!”

‘So finally I found her waiting by the lion from some movie,’ Jenna continued. ‘And Poppy did mention she might be waiting for me by the lion but I said, “That should have been the headline!”

‘She thought she was in the wave pool, so I was looking for one child in the wave pool. Anyway, I love Mila [but] I am retiring from water parks, even though the American Dream Mall… if I go to any, that’s the one I’d go to.’
