Hold Your Breath is set ‘amid the 1930s Oklahoma amid the region’s horrific dust storms’ and follows Margaret Bellum (Paulson) who is ‘convinced that a sinister presence is threatening her family,’ as per IMDb.
The script was penned by Karrie, who has worked with Joines on a number of collaborative film projects over the years.
The thriller-horror feature also stars Claire Foy, The Bear’s Ebon Moss-Bachrach, American Crime Story’s Annaleigh Ashford and Back To The Future star Frances Lee McCain.
Hold Your Breath — distributed by Searchlight Pictures — will go straight-to-streaming on Hulu starting October 3.

The film’s first official trailer dropped Tuesday with the early reviews from critics being mixed.
The Wrap brutally declared that Hold Your Breath is ‘neither a successful psychological thriller nor a compelling work of horror.’
They criticized the characters as being ‘underwritten’ but heaped praise of Paulson’s ‘unsettling’ performance as a struggling mother dealing with the terrors of the unknown.
Paulson’s trip to Toronto comes just days after she joined fellow A-list stars at night two of the Creative Arts Emmys gala in Los Angeles on Sunday.
The annual gala puts a spotlight on scripted programming, with FX’s Shogun leading the night the nominations with 25 nods.
For the occasion, Sarah exuded sophisticated chic in a navy gown adorned with white polka dots.
When she isn’t wowing on red carpets or starring in acclaimed films/TV shows, Sarah is busy spending quality time with longtime partner Holland Taylor, 81.
The couple first met in 2005, but didn’t begin dating until a decade later after they reconnected over social media.

Despite dating for nearly a decade, Taylor revealed on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM show last month that she and Sarah have no plans to marry.
‘I don’t think [we’ll get married],’ Taylor, who typically keeps her love life out of the spotlight, said. ‘No. We’ve never talked about it with any interest.’
The queer icon, best known for portraying Judge Roberta Kittleson on ABC’s The Practice, noted that a legal contract just ‘doesn’t seem to mean to [them] what it means to a lot of people.’
She went on to pointed out that if they wanted to walk down the aisle then they ‘would.’
After Cohen said he loves how in love they seem, Taylor gushed that they ‘do have a wonderful resonance.’
‘We are very interested in the same kinds of things, and yet we share big differences,’ the star added.

Still Taylor said their 31-year age gap does cause some ‘big generational’ differences that ‘worry’ her, at times.
‘But what can I do?’ the performer asked. ‘A lot of the things that she is going through that are very emotionally important to her right now, I went through 30 years ago or 40 years ago.’
Neither Taylor or Paulson have ever been married. Previously, Paulson was engaged to playwright Tracy Letts.
