Sarah Michelle Gellar shared a touching tribute to her late BFF Shannen Doherty on Saturday in honor of what would’ve marked her 54th birthday.
The former child star – who was hoping to ‘squeeze out another three to five years’ – tragically passed away on July 13 following an eight-year battle with metastatic Stage 4 breast cancer.
‘For as long as I can remember, we have celebrated our birthdays together @theshando,’ Sarah – who turns 48 this Monday – wrote on Instagram.
‘This year I will keep that tradition, and celebrate you. I am so glad we were all together on this day last year, not knowing it would be the last like this. Happy Birthday Shannen.’
Gellar included never-before-seen footage of Shannen beaming on her 53rd birthday a year ago as her friends serenaded her inside a kitchen.
‘And Sarah Michelle Gellar!’ Doherty interrupted the song, pointing to her famous friend.
