Sarah Jessica Parker's Son James Graduates from Brown as She Discusses Nepo Babies' Financial Independence

Matthew Broderick and his wife of 28 years, Sarah Jessica Parker, proudly celebrated their eldest child’s graduation from Brown University in Providence, RI on Tuesday.

James Wilkie Broderick Instastoried a snap of himself wearing his ceremonial robe over a suit alongside his 15-year-old twin sisters Tabitha and Loretta.

Liviya Kraemer – who co-produced SJP’s HBO series Divorce – also Instastoried a snap of the 22-year-old nepo baby after earning his degree in classics, classical languages, literatures, and linguistics.

The 60-year-old former child star made it clear that she and the 63-year-old Only Murders in the Building actor are not planning on bankrolling the lives of their three children with their reported combined $245M fortune.

‘You want for them to be pursuing things that are exciting and challenging and hard and gratifying,’ Sarah explained to E! News on Wednesday.

‘And [we want them] to be able to ultimately take care of themselves, support themselves – emotionally, financially – and that they can be in the world and be a reliable person to themselves and to other people. And so we talk about work like that.’

Parker said she’s ‘curious to see what they all do’ but she hopes they’ll feel like ‘they have choices and that there isn’t one way.’

James – who boasts 29K Instagram followers – made money as a full-time sales associate at NYC boutique Reiss from 2023-2024.

And back in 2020, Broderick worked as a seasonal server at the Main Street Tavern in Amagansett, NY not far from his parents’ $29.9M Bridgehampton home.

But the Entertainment 360-repped actor scored a guest-star gig as Carl in the February 20th episode of CBS’ anthology crime series Elsbeth alongside his famous father.

‘It was great. We had two days together,’ Matthew recalled to E! News last month.

‘It was really fun to hang around the craft service table and eat snacks. He was nervous but he got over that. We had a great couple of days.’

And last July, James portrayed the country club valet in the first episode of Apple TV+ miniseries Lady in the Lake starring Natalie Portman.

As for Tabitha and Loretta’s acting aspirations, the two-time Tony winner said: ‘One of them definitely is not, she says, right now, but I don’t think so.’

This summer, Matthew will reunite with his Ferris Bueller’s Day Off co-star Alan Ruck in Jon Turteltaub’s remake of 2019 French road trip comedy, The Best Is Yet to Come – according to Deadline.

Meanwhile, Sarah executive produced and reprised her role as wealthy widowed author Carrie Bradshaw in the third season of Michael Patrick King’s SATC continuation And Just Like That, which premieres this Thursday on HBO Max.

In the season two finale, Aidan Shaw (John Corbett) informed Carrie he needed a five-year break from her in order to focus on his troubled teenage son after she sold her beloved West Village apartment to fit his three sons.

Variety reported that Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis all earned $10M paychecks to executive produce and star in season one, but it’s unclear if they’ve since received raises.
