Samantha Armytage is moved by a very touching gesture as she remembers loss of beloved family member

It’s been one year since Samantha Armytage lost her pet Labrador, Banjo, after the dog died from a snake bite.

And now, the 48-year-old Golden Bachelor host has received a touching tribute from an artist celebrating Samantha’s love for her adorable dog.

Samantha took to her social media to post an image of a painting created by Ruth Burton, which depicts the TV star gently cradling Banjo’s paws as he relaxes in her lap.

‘Thank you so much for your beautiful painting of Banjo, Ruth,’ Samantha said in the caption after sharing the painting to her Instagram Story.

She also shared a heartfelt post created by Burton, which the artist shared on her own Instagram account.

‘They take a piece of our heart when they leave us but the love they gave will never be forgotten,’ Burton said.

The television veteran announced she was leaving Channel Seven in August after 21 years at the network.

The former Farmer Wants A Wife star has since moved to Nine where she will host the network’s Aussie Bachelor spin-off series The Golden Bachelor.

In her new position at Nine, she will also become a ‘fill in’ presenter on Today while regular hosts Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo go on leave over the summer.

Once the host of Seven’s rival breakfast show Sunrise, Sam will be co-hosting with Weekend Today star Clint Stanaway, according to The Daily Telegraph.

The journalist will ‘wake up with Today’ for a week and a half, putting her eight years anchor experience at Sunrise from 2013 until 2021 to good use in the rival hot seat.

Sam made headlines last year after confirming her split from 61-year-old equestrian businessman Richard Lavender in December.

The couple tied the knot at his 40-hectare property in the picturesque Southern Highlands in NSW on New Year’s Eve in 2020.

The couple’s separation was planned to be leaked to a Sydney newspaper, but sources confirmed the news to Daily Mail Australia in advance.

‘Yes Richard and I have separated. All breakups are hard, but it’s somewhat lessened by the fact it’s amicable and we wish the best for each other,’ Armytage told media after the news broke.

‘I appreciate you respecting our privacy. I won’t be making any further comment.’
