Sam Fender has revealed his right vocal chord has haemorhaged as he cancelled upcoming shows in Glasgow and Newcastle.
The singer-songwriter, 30, kicked off his People Watching tour on December 2 in Dublin and then headed to Leeds, Manchester, London and Birmingham.
But he has now issued an update to fans saying he has been forced to cancel his next two dates for health reasons.
Sam revealed he has been suffering with the flu and after pushing through for a performance on Monday night, has haemorrhaged his right vocal chord.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, he wrote: ‘Glasgow and Newcastle, as most of you know I’ve had the flu for a few days now. Regardless of how compromised my voice was I did everything I could to get it in working order last night to put on the best show possible.
‘Today I have had an ENT scope/camera down my throat and sadly I’ve haemorrhaged my right vocal chord, I’m absolutely heartbroken.

‘This has been the best tour so far and all I want to do is get up and sing again for you all tonight.’
Sam added: ‘I’ve had two separate ENT doctors say if I perform tonight I’m risking lasting damage to my voice and I’ve been advised to be on vocal rest and not use my voice for a prolonged length of time until it heals.
‘I’ve done everything by the book this tour living like a monk, it’s so unlucky. I’m so so sorry to all of you who are on your way tonight. We’re trying to figure out a way to reschedule for you all, more news soon x.’
Sam headed back onto the road in just a couple months time, just two years after his UK tour in 2022.
In March 2025, Sam will then be travelling to Europe for nine gigs in France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
Tickets go on general sale on October 25 at 10am, with fans only limited to buy four tickets each.
A ballet for tickets to his Newcastle gigs is currently open and will close on Monday 21.
Sam has released two albums: Hypersonic Missiles in 2019 and Seventeen Going Under in 2021.

Not long after the release of Seventeen Going Under, Sam was forced to cancel a number of US headline gigs to focus on his mental health.
He said at the time: ‘It seems completely hypocritical of me to advocate discussion on mental health and write songs about it if I don’t take the time to look after my own mental health.
‘I’ve neglected myself for over a year now and haven’t dealt with things that have deeply affected me.
‘It’s impossible to do this work on myself while on the road, and it’s exhausting feigning happiness and wellness for the sake of business.’
Sam, who is known to perform even for free, told Twitter and Instagram he was ‘eternally overwhelmed by the love and support of our fans’ and was upset to let them down.

She said: ‘This is beautiful. We (heart emoji) you. Look after yourself.’
The North Shields artist previously said the name second album Seventeen Going Under was influenced by his mental health struggles and his therapy sessions.
On social media he added: ‘The state of my wellbeing is starting to affect everything I do, including my performances (and) I refuse to go out there and not give it my all EVERY time, as you all deserve nothing less’.
