In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, the Mexican-born star revealed that she and her husband of 15 years keep their money separate.
She also shared that there was no pre-nuptial agreement before their 2009 wedding.
‘I support a lot of the aspects of my life and myself,’ she stated.
‘I have the pressure to make a certain amount of money, and I like it. And now, I decided, I want to make more.’
Part of those efforts was her work as an executive producer on the HBO series Like Water For Chocolate through her Ventanarosa Productions.
The show is a reimagining of Laura Esquivel’s classic novel.
‘Like Water for Chocolate is a true jewel of Latin American literature and film,’ Hayek told Variety.
‘I wanted to find a new place and way to tell this story, so that a new generation can discover it and the people who already have a relationship with the story can rediscover it in a new format.’
