Disclaimer will tell the tale of documentary filmmaker Catherine Ravenscroft (Cate) who receives a mysterious novel titled The Perfect Stranger on her nightstand.
Catherine is described as ‘a successful and respected television documentary journalist’ who has built a career out of revealing the transgressions of beloved institutions, before her whole life is upturned by the delivery.
At first intrigued by the novel, Catherine quickly discovers it is not fiction, but rather a recreation of the day Catherine ‘became hostage to a dark secret, a secret that only one other person knew – and that person is dead’, according to the synopsis.
The only other person who knew this secret – or so she thought – is dead, as she finds herself confronting the truth about that awful and fateful day.
Forced into a ‘living nightmare’, Catherine’s only hope is to confront what happened on that fateful day, even if ‘the truth might destroy her’.
Her doting husband is played by Sacha, and her on-screen son is portrayed by Kodi Smit-McPhee.
Kevin Kline and Lesley Manville are also part of the all-star cast.
