Sabrina Carpenter looked sensational for the new issue if Vogue Italia.
The 26-year-old siren was shot by famed photographer Steven Meisel, 71, to resemble a classic blonde bombshell movie star.
The singer said she had to twist into a ‘pretzel’ for the shoot where she was styled to resemble 1960s actress Brigitte Bardot.
‘Initially, I think they told me they wanted to go very natural,’ said the 5ft star. ‘And then I got there and I had a smoky eye on, I had big hair, and I was like, you know what? This is the way I want to be at this time in my life.’
The shoot was inspired by German girls from 65 years ago. ‘It looked kind of glamour and ’60s and black-and-white and really elegant and moody and Brigitte Bardot and very sexy and so it seems quite exciting to me,’ she shared.

It was not easy getting into her poses.
‘I felt like I was bending like a pretzel all day but it was really fun and special and I think they felt really painless in the moment which was cool,’ noted the star.
‘I was so excited to dress up in a way that felt a little bit more like my own personal style. I really resonate with a lot of ’60s, ’70s, the cuts of some of the looks, they just really make me feel super confident.’
In her interview she also discussed dealing with mega fame.
‘I feel like I’m constantly changing as a person… what I feel today will be very different in a month,’ she reflected. She added, ‘What I create in this moment is made for this moment.’
And laughing gets her through most issues.
‘All my life, I thought that humor was just that. Besides saving me, this kind of wit was a filter that ensured my protection for the future,’ she admitted.
And she was born with it: ‘Sarcasm has been passed down through generations. My parents are both extremely sarcastic… and so is my sister. We all have a bit of caustic humor in our blood.’

It’s not just her family that keeps her grounded, though. ‘A lot of the credit goes to my friends and my team. They manage my crazy mind. It’s the only way I can stay honest in a world where it’s so easy not to be.’
Her persona is also fun for her: ‘My shows may give the impression that I’m playing a character, but when I talk to the audience, I speak as myself. I talk about what I did that day and how I feel… those are the moments I keep to myself, the real ones.’
She has also leaned on her fans.
‘The most important thing about the last 10 years of my life has been the people who have brought me to where I am now, namely the fans who have stuck by me through every moment, the good ones and the bad ones, with the songs they loved and the ones they didn’t love.
‘They’re ready and available every day, and I love them deeply for that.’

Carpenter said she’s in a phase of ‘reflection.’
‘I feel like I’m doing a lot of introspective reflection. I really want to do things with intention, things that make me come alive and give life to myself and those around me,’ she shared with Vogue Italia.
‘I’m journaling a lot these days,’ Carpenter noted, ‘which you probably wouldn’t expect after two albums in two years.’
She prefers to create at home, ‘in her bedroom, or outside, even though I get bitten by a lot of bugs… Once I’ve had enough, I go for a walk and feel refreshed.’
