Ryan Reynolds addressed the buzz about possibly co-hosting the Oscars with his Deadpool & Wolverine buddy Hugh Jackman next year, and he’s definitely intrigued.
‘The Oscars, yes. This is something I really genuinely would love to do with Hugh,’ the Canadian matinee idol, 48, shared with Deadline on Thursday.
‘So, one day I’d love to do that, I don’t know about this year, but one day, yeah,’ he added.
The star explained that his priority is being present for his four children, leaving little room for the Oscars gig in March.
‘Part of it is that these movies like Deadpool & Wolverine, they consume my life, and I have four kids, and I want to be there,’ explained the star, who shares James, 9, Inez, seven, and four-year-old Betty — as well as one-year-old son Olin with Blake Lively.

‘I want to see them, and they want to see me, and I want to walk into school with them, and I want to be able to be there present.’
Plus, the pressure of live TV is not something he could do casually, he admitted, saying he’d be ‘constantly writing in my head’ and imagining ‘potentially tragic outcomes.’
It seems not everyone thinks Ryan is Oscar host material.
Martha Stewart, for one, claimed he simply isn’t funny—despite the show’s usual reliance on quick wit and a sharp sense of humor.
Martha made her comments while appearing as a special guest for Bilt Rewards’ November Rent Free game show, where she was asked about the most fun celebrities to hang out with.
‘You want to know something? He’s not so funny in real life. No, he’s not so funny. He’s very serious,’ she said.
When Ankur expressed surprise, Martha clarified, “\’He’s a good actor. He can act funny, but he isn’t funny.
‘I’m going to get in trouble,” Martha laughed, noting, ‘He’s my neighbor.’

After the TV host’s remarks went viral, Ryan humorously fired back.
‘I’d disagree with her. But I tried that once. The woman is unexpectedly spry. She really closed the gap after a mile or so,’ he said.
Meanwhile, Hugh Jackman would be right at home hosting, having emceed the 81st Academy Awards in 2009.
He’s also hosted the Tony Awards four times and won one in 2004 for his role in The Boy from Oz.
