Russell Crowe is among several stars to receive a ‘worst actor’ nomination in this year’s Golden Raspberry Awards.
The Razzies are given out each year to performers and movies that are deemed the ‘worst’ of the year, in direct contrast to the Oscars.
The Australian actor, 59, is nominated for his lead role as the ‘James Bond of exorcists’ in the controversial film The Pope’s Exorcist.
Crowe delivers a chilling performance as the late Father Gabriele Amorth, chief exorcist of the religious institution, who died in 2016 after becoming one of the most famous and respected exorcists in the Catholic Church.
Other stars named in the Worst Actor category were Vin Diesel for Fast X, along with Chris Evans for Ghosted, Jason Statham for Meg 2: The Trench and Jon Voight for Mercy.

Many Hollywood stars found themselves hiding under the covers on Monday morning as the 2024 Razzie Awards nominations were announced.
This year, Sylvester Stallone’s Expend4bles lead the list with seven nominations.
Jennifer Lopez (for The Mother) and Megan Fox (for Johnny & Clyde) were some of the ladies who were named Worst Actress, along with Ana de Armas for Ghosted, Salma Hayek for Magic Mike’s Last Dance and Dame Helen Mirren for Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

Fox was also listed in the Worst Supporting Actress category for her acting on Expend4bles along with Kim Cattrall for About My Father, Bai Ling for Johnny & Clyde, Lucy Liu for Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Mary Stuart Masterson for Five Nights at Freddy’s.
The Razzies are always announced one day before the Oscar nominations, which will be unveiled on Tuesday, January 23 8.30am ET (Wednesday 12.30am AEDT).
Expend4bles was the most nominated.
It is the fourth entry in The Expendables franchise. The stars were Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Megan Fox and Andy García.

The awards ceremony is on March 9, 2024.

The Golden Raspberry Awards is a parody award show honoring the worst of cinematic ‘failures.’
The awards show was co-founded in 1981 by UCLA film graduates and film industry veterans John J. B. Wilson and Mo Murphy.
Razzie nominations are determined by a select committee before ballots are issued to the membership. Anybody can become a voting member of the Razzies by paying an annual fee of $40 or a lifetime membership of $500.

The Razzie Awards’ satirical annual ceremony is preceded by its opposite, the Academy Awards, by four decades.
In 2023, following backlash for nominating 12-year-old Ryan Kiera Armstrong for Worst Actress, the Golden Raspberry Awards rescinded the nomination and said individuals under age 18 would no longer be nominated.
Andrew Dominik’s Blonde starring Ana de Armas led the competition with eight nominations, going on to win the prize for worst picture in 2023.
