Married At First Sight’s Eliot Donovan has officially set a new record for the show’s shortest-lived marriage, walking out on his new wife, Lauren Hall, less than two days into their honeymoon.
Things took a disastrous turn when the pair sat down for dinner, with Eliot determined to get to the bottom of their incompatibility.
However, the conversation quickly turned tense as the couple realised their values and expectations were vastly misaligned.
After their awkward exchange, Eliot made an abrupt decision the following morning to leave the experiment altogether, citing Lauren’s age and taste in handbags as deal-breakers.
‘You should be with someone who’s like, probably 40s, and that would be a good dynamic in my opinion,’ 35-year-old Eliot stated bluntly.
‘And I should be with…’ he continued, before being cut off by Lauren, who sarcastically interjected, ‘A 20-year-old.’

Things took a disastrous turn when the pair sat down for dinner, with Eliot determined to get to the bottom of their incompatibility
Eliot, who described himself as a ‘very selective person,’ seemingly doubled down on his perspective, reinforcing that Lauren did not meet his impossibly high standards.
Feeling exasperated, Lauren excused herself under the guise of using the bathroom, but really, she just needed to vent. ‘He’s so annoying,’ she fumed out of earshot.
The next morning, Eliot followed through with his runaway groom act, packing his bags and leaving Lauren to enjoy the free island honeymoon on her own.
‘So dramatic,’ he muttered while walking away, as if he weren’t the source of the drama.
Lauren, unfazed by his departure, could only laugh at the absurdity of the situation.Â
‘It’s actually fascinating to watch a grown man throw a tantrum because he didn’t get exactly what he wanted,’ she remarked. ‘It’s a huge cop out and it’s disappointing.’
Meanwhile, Eliot made it clear he saw himself as the true victim of the situation.
He told a member of production that he had given his marriage a ‘real go’ over two whole days and now wanted answers from the experts on why he was matched with someone who didn’t meet all 578 points on his extensive non-negotiable list.
Married At First Sight continues Thursday at 7.30pm on Channel Nine
