Ruby Wax Becomes Sixth Contestant in Australia for I’m A Celeb: ‘Weirdest Thing I’ve Ever Done!’

Comedian and actress, Ruby Wax, is the sixth contestant to land in Brisbane Airport ahead of this year’s I’m A Celeb launching on Sunday.

The When Ruby Met presenter, 72, wore a pair of sunglasses, grey t-shirt and jeans for her arrival Down Under.

She told the Daily Mail: ‘I don’t mind about camping, I’ve been on desert islands before, I did a show where I had to live alone for 10 days, so this is nothing.

‘It’s the people, that is exciting, to pick them apart and find out what makes them so interesting.’

Ruby said that she wouldn’t miss much about home in the UK apart from her cats and said: ‘This is the weirdest thing I have ever done. 

‘What if you don’t like the people, but I usually do get on with people, if I don’t it shows on my face.’

It comes after she was spotted in Heathrow Airport on Sunday and was beaming ahead of her lengthy flight.

Ruby is set to join names including Martin Kemp, Lisa Riley and Kelly Brook in the famous jungle when the new series kicks off on Sunday.

She found fame on ITV sitcom Girls On Top in 1985 and went on to be an interviewer on shows such as the BBC’s Ruby Wax Meets.

Ahead of her stint, she said: ‘It hasn’t actually sunk in that I am doing this, but I am really looking forward to meeting my fellow campmates.

‘I was offered the chance to take part a long time ago and I thought, “No, I could never do that” but now it’s the right time. I like doing adventurous things.

‘It will be nice for people to get to know the real me because you can’t hide in the jungle.

‘In my personas before, I looked quite aggressive and pushy, and I think it was just my nerves. I am not aggressive, it’s the way I talk. I’m not confrontational and it looked like I was. ‘

The survival reality show, presented by Declan Donnelly, 50, and Ant McPartlin, 49, will be back on the popular channel this coming Sunday (November 16).

Ruby looked in great spirits as she climbed into her waiting car for the last part of her long journey

The survival reality show, presented by Declan Donnelly , 50, and Ant McPartlin , 49, will be back on the popular channel this coming Sunday (November 16)

Irish TV personality, Vogue Williams, and beloved Celebs Go Dating receptionist, Tom Read Wilson, have been confirmed as the late entries to this year’s I’m A Celeb. 

Each year, two contestants enter a week later than the first batch of 10 celebrities and typically have to complete their own task before joining the rest of the camp.
