Rose Byrne might be a Hollywood A-lister these days, but that certainly hasn’t always been the case.
The Australian actress, 46, has revealed the ‘desperate’ lengths she went to in order to achieve fame in Tinsel Town.
Rose appeared on Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Ritchie Show on Thursday alongside her Platonic co-star Seth Rogen, to chat about the anticipated new season of the hit Apple TV+ series.
It wasn’t long before the conversation turned to some of the Bridesmaids star’s earliest attempts at stardom.
Rose admitted that she wasn’t shy about trying her luck in all manner of TV fare before nabbing her first small-screen role.

‘Did you ever try out for Neighbours or Home and Away when you were younger?’ host Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald asked the actress.
‘Oh yeah, I did an ill-fated soap called Echo Point that I’m sure you’re familiar with – with some wonderful actors actually, in all seriousness, that was not….’ she said before trailing off.
Seth then diplomatically interjected with: ‘It did not have the legs.’
Continuing, Rose admitted that she did, indeed, audition for both iconic soaps, and was rejected.
‘Oh yeah, I auditioned for Neighbours and Home and Away… all of them,’ she said.
Billed as a Home and Away ‘killer’, Echo Point was a short-lived soap that aired on Network Ten from June to December 1995.
Rose starred as ‘good girl’ Belinda O’Connor in the soap, alongside the likes of Tom Long, Jessica Napier, Martin Henderson and Diarmid Heidenreich.
Originally airing at 7pm to combat the iconic Seven soap, Echo Point failed to resonate with audiences, finishing its one-season run in the 11.30pm graveyard slot

Elsewhere in the chat, Rose admitted to sustaining a very surprising injury while in Melbourne.
‘I just bent and grabbed my bag off the floor the other day in Melbourne and I got a lumbar facet sprain and I couldn’t move for two days,’ Rose admitted.
When co-host Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli asked the star how she got off the ground, Rose replied: ‘Barely.
‘I was shuffled back to my room and lay in bed for two days.’
Wanting to one-up his co-star, Seth also admitted to a recent malady while in the shower.
‘I hurt my neck really badly shampooing my head,’ he said.
‘I was getting too vigorous a lather going and I hurt my neck. It hurt for two weeks.’
It comes after it was announced that Rose’s breakthrough 1999 Australian movie Two Hands is set to receive a sequel 25 years later.

The film starred a 19-year-old Heath and Rose in a hilarious and confronting gangster story which has developed a cult following over the years.
It was written and directed by Aussie filmmaker Gregor Jordan, who recently told The Sydney Morning Herald he had finished writing a sequel.
‘We have a script that I think is really good. It brings it into the modern day,’ Jordan began.
‘If we’d tried to do a sequel five years later, it probably wouldn’t have worked, but 25 years later is the right time.’
