Robert Irwin has revealed why he accepted the offer to host the new season of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia.
The zookeeper-turned-reality TV host, 20, told Yahoo Lifestyle, hosting the show is important in continuing the legacy of his father Steve, who tragically passed away when Robert was just three years old.
‘I love that I have a real purpose and a legacy that I get to continue from my family, and my dad particularly, and I get to create my own – of wildlife conservation, of fun, of passion and positivity,’ he said.
‘And no show does it better than I’m A Celebrity when it comes to just fun, family, positive, let’s give it a go. Plus, every contestant’s working for a charity.’
He said he is a ‘huge fan of the show’ and it is a ‘privilege and a real honour’ to co-host the series alongside Julia Morris.

It comes after Robert revealed he laid down the law to producers before accepting his new role on I’m a Celebrity.
Appearing on KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Tuesday, he said he wanted to alter one of the show’s major gimmicks – the eating challenge.
‘The one thing that I was like ”mmm I got to change this”, was eating the African wildlife…I’m a conservationist at heart,’ he said.
‘They have changed it so we’re just doing the cow, and the chicken, and the fish, and the cockroach…but it’s cool cause we really get to bring this to a whole new level.’

At one point in the chat Kyle and Jackie O Show co-host, Kyle Sandilands teased the famed Wildlife Warrior.
‘You’ve ruined the show with your own personal opinions on life, is that right?,’ he joked.
Robert went on to reveal that Australia Zoo ‘does a lot of conservation work in Africa’ and thought that the new season was an opportunity to ‘celebrate’ the wildlife.
