Robert Irwin has become the new king of commercial TV after carrying Network Ten’s I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here to the top of the ratings on Sunday.
The long-running survival show scored a massive national average audience of 905,000 in its season opener, hosted by Irwin and Julia Morris.
It convincingly beat Nine’s coverage of the Australian Open which drew an audience average of 663,000 viewers.
The national average for a TV show combines viewers watching free-to-air and on-demand from all regional areas and the five major metro centres.
Irwin, 21, has turned out to be ratings gold for the troubled Ten network.
After making his debut on the show last year, I’m a Celebrity…saw a surge in the surge in the viewers, easily besting its performance in 2023.

The conservationist has been making waves since and in June made history as the youngest star to nab a Gold Logie nomination.
Last month Irwin teased he was looking to expand his role with the Channel 10 network.
He told TV Tonight he was getting to unveil an ‘animal-related’ series ‘hopefully soon’.
‘At this point, it’s still a lot of finding out when that’s going to work, putting all the puzzle pieces in place,’ he told the outlet.
He added he would ‘absolutely love’ to continue to work with the network on a range of TV projects.
The TV network has seemingly been very keen to lock down the promising young star, recently having Irwin guest host their panel show The Project between I’m A Celebrity seasons.
The news came only a day after Irwin sent fans swooning when he took to Instagram to share a rescue of a freshwater turtle.
In the video, the TV presenter was seen carrying a turtle off a highway and over to the side of the road.

Wearing a green mesh knit shirt with short sleeves, his biceps and muscular forearms were on prominent display.
‘I’ve just pulled over, because this bloke’s right in the middle of the road,’ he said.
‘I saw a couple of cars go pretty much right over him but I don’t think he’s been hit…he looks fine externally but it’s dark I can’t quite tell so we’re going to take him to our wildlife hospital.’
Robert was then seen dropping the turtle off at the hospital, before getting the all-clear and releasing the animal back to a body of water.
Fans took to Robert’s comments and left thirsty remarks about the young hunk’s good looks and physique.
‘Can you please cut back on the gym hours a little, Robert? The pecs and biceps getting too big!’ said one follower.
‘Lucky turtle,’ wrote another follower, while a third said ‘I would absolutely marry Robert like yesterday. So dreamy.’
‘That shirt looks good on you,’ wrote someone else.
Another thirsty commenter wrote, ‘We need to see that chest!’
